When Marj of The Traveling Heels and Rowena of Animetric extended their invite to celebrate their birthdays with me last week, I didn’t think twice because they’ve become good friends not just online but offline as well. Plus, I know that these two are always all-out when it comes to events they host.
Their restaurant of choice? No less than Vikings Luxury Buffet in SM Megamall.
First time to try Vikings, although I’ve been to Niu by Vikings (an upscale version with more distinct and premium menu) several times. Still, despite being my first time at their Megamall branch, I was half-expecting that Vikings has some similarity with Niu, at least when it comes to variety and service.
True enough, Vikings did not disappoint. I’ll let the photos of the talking because honestly for me, it’s one of the buffets that’s worth your money.
Italian, Japanese, Chinese, Filipino cuisine are basically what make up the main menu spread of Vikings. There’s a cold station, mongolian station, grill station, and dessert and drinks stations of course.
As usual, buffet talaga lumalabas ang pagka-matakaw ko. Heehee. Four plates, first batch. 😀Yes, they have caviar!
Now comes my favorite part – dessert!
Vikings SM Megamall has one of the largest dessert buffet spreads. It stretches right in the middle of the restaurant, which I’m sure even non-dessert lovers couldn’t resist.
Such an assortment of dessert they have- cakes & kakanin (sticky rice), donuts and soufflés, halo-halo & ice cream (station), fresh fruits, chocolate fountain and candy (station).
It’s obvious with the spread of of birthday cakes that Vikings is a birthday destination. Now why didn’t I think of celebrating my birthday here?!
The drink station lets you choose from different kinds of juices, soft drinks, beer, coffee and tea. That’s also where the yogurt station is at. While wine isn’t included in the published rate(unlike Niu where there’s a selection of cocktails & wine), you can request for a bottle of your choice for an additional charge.
This Binusog na Lechon was Marj & Ro’s birthday cake. Everybody was excited to devour it and our verdict? It’s sooooo good! Crunchy skin with tender meat. It’s impossible not to eat the rice stuffing because it’s perfect with the lechon. When at Vikings, don’t forget to get a serving of Binusog na Lechon, it’s often times not displayed on the carving station so just ask the chef for it instead.
You get a group of singing waiters, a birthday cake and birthday signage when you celebrate with Vikings.
Tabs of Browhaus/Strip Manila, Shen Cala-or, Monique of Browhaus/Strip Manila, birthday girls Ro & Marj, Sophie Uy, Raquel Bartolome PR/Marketing of Vikings, Didi Tang & yours truly. Happy birthday again Marj & Ro. It was lovely meeting you Raquel and thanks for having us! I surely ate like a viking!
