It’s becoming an annual thing for us to have our family portrait taken. However, what makes this year’s portrait different from the previous year is that we got to shoot it outdoors. The thing about shooting outdoors is that there are a lot of things to consider: weather, natural light, venue and the mood of the people involved. These are some of the things we had to keep in mind when we agreed to shoot outdoors with the super cool, talented and rising life + style photographer, Louie Arcilla. We ended up shooting in University of the Philippines, Quezon City one lazy Sunday. It was actually the day of Manny Pacquiao’s fight versus Chris Algieri and that afternoon felt like it was a scene from The Walking Dead. Only a few people were out and the road was clear, we could’ve cartwheeled our way to the venue. The weather cooperated that day and we were lucky there was enough light for Louie to capture my family & I enjoying a few hours outdoor.

The option to change outfits (we had to change in our car), the distance from the parking to the picturesque area, the no-retouch-almost no-make up look that I had to sport (because I was too busy changing my kids). These, plus a few group of college kids taking our BTS photos (they were pretty amused at our funny in between takes & bloopers) were some of the highlights of our shoot. It was quite challenging to shoot outdoors especially if there are kids involved but looking at how the photos turned out, I could only thank Louie for his great photography skills & patience with my kids. He’s such fun to work with. Thanks again Louie! This will definitely not be the first! 🙂
