To culminate our baking series, my kids created their own Oatmeal Honey Cookies. Originally, lil’ Ms. JG plan to bake by herself but then lil’ Mr. JG volunteered as his Achi’s sous chef since he remembered how fun it was when they made Strawberry Muffin with Cookie Butter. Heehee.
As usual, this recipe is easy peasy. So much easy that my 5 year old and 3 year old managed to do this by themselves (but I did the measuring and was in charge of manning the oven).
Here’s what you need:
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
4 cups rolled oats
2 teaspoons cinnamon powder
2 teaspoons baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups butter, softened
1 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup honey
1 pack Maya All-Purpose Flour 400g
Pre-heat oven to 350ºF. Line a cookie sheet with baking paper. Set aside.
Sift together the flour, cinnamon powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
Cream the butter, white sugar, brown sugar and honey until fluggy. Beat in egg and vanilla.
Add the flour mixture and mix until well incorporated. Fold the oats.
Scoop or spoon batter onto the prepared cookie sheet.
Make sure that there is at least a 2-inch space in between cookies because they will spread during baking.
Bake until evenly golden brown, about 15-18 minutes.
Allow to cool on the cookie sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a rack to cool completely.
Oatmeal Honey Cookies made with Maya All-Purpose Flour. I cannot believe my kids were able bake cookies!
My kids prefer chocolate chip cookies but since they baked oatmeal honey they had to try and take a bite. Surprisingly, they loved it! Slowly incorporating more healthy food in my children’s diet. So far, so good. 🙂
I let the cookies bake for 18 minutes because my kids and I like our cookies crunchy. Yum!
My kids and I are getting the hang of baking! I love how much they’re having fun with food prep as much as I did when I was their age. I hope we keep up with our baking activities as this could be one lovely tradition I can do with them. Thank you Maya Kitchen for having Disney products. My kids find it more “cool” and “magical” that they got to bake with Frozen characters Elsa, Anna and Olaf; Princesses Snow White, Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty; and Mickey Mouse and the gang!
