May’s here! For the flip flop lovers, you all know it’s that time of the year again where you get to express yourself and create a pair that’s uniquely yours at Make Your Own Havaianas 2013.
Check out this year’s invite.
Cute no? I love how the colors of the famous flip flops are represented on the invite. Remember I wrote a post about last year’s MYOH 2012? 🙂 I was still pregnant with lil’ Mr. GJG heehee.
Havaianas has been an all time favorite of Filipinos when it comes to flip flops. It becomes even more special when you make your own pair. The bragging rights you get whenever you wear your unique pair of Havs. What a delight.
Did you know that Havaianas has been collaborating with celebrities over the years? They’ve also been collaborating with other brands and designers too.
Ah my favorite collaboration of them all. Missoni x Havaianas. Sadly, I don’t own a pair. When I checked Adora they didn’t have a pair in my size, not meant to be man.
Traditionally, MYOH features a commemorative pair that best visualizes the theme for the year. This year’s theme is all about IMAGINATION. As what artist Pablo Picasso once said “Everything you can imagine is real.” And so the brand launches its first-ever collaboration with a Filipino Illustrator and Havaianatico, Dan Matutina, who is renowned for his unique visual mix of handmade and digital, clean and dirty, and old and modern aesthetics. Dan Matutina x Havaianas will be the first glow-in-the-dark MYOH commemorative pair with carbon blue sole and showing two spacemen with space markers connecting the stars to form images-representing how Havaianas invites everyone to let loose their creativity brought about by their boundless imagination.
Dan Matutina and his creation.
The signage towards the world of imagination.
The glow-in-the-dark holding area. Where you can just stare at these pretties in delight.
The Rockwell Tent was transformed into a whimsical world that’s similar to a carnival. Hot air balloons made of cupcakes and flip flops were evident during the launch last April 30, 2013.
Mini cupcakes from Sonja’s Cupcakes were a hit amongst guests.
Yep. That’s a hot air balloon made of hundreds of Havaianas.
The wheel that decided the fate of every pair made that night.
SoMoms Tin & Cai trying to mix and match the pair they’ll get.
Pretty boy DJ Callum spinned good music that got the people even more hyped up.
I together with Bestie, Paul and Krissy.
Spotted: Mother Jenni Epperson designing her pair (she was with her husband Tom & daughter Aryanna) Because everyone was too caught up creating their pair, no decent photos! Ngaragan portion but in a fun way ha.
Alyanna Martinez waited alongside with me for her turn. She’s so fresh despite the warm temperature inside the tent! Check out her lipchook! Love the orange shade, complimented her bag! 😉
Look at Alyanna and my pair from last year’s MYOH 2012.
Mother Janice from Creative Juice making a pair for one of the SoMoms.
My Havaianas maker was very OC. She made sure the pins were placed exactly on both sides. I forgot her name though but thank you for making my pair! 🙂

Here’s my date for the night, Tin and her pair of Havaianas which had wings and crystals= the flying donya pair. 😉
And here’s my pair. I got Dan Matutina X Havaianas sole with lime green straps, a green crystal and owl pins on each straps.
This is by far the best and coolest pair of Havainas I own. By far beating my lust over a pair of Missoni X Havaianas. Glow-in-the-dark + illustrated by a Filipino artists + owl & green crystal pins= over the moon happiness. 😀
Look, the canvas Eco-bag comes with three markers where you can create & customize it depending on how you’ll color it. I already felt like I was an artist myself heehee
As much as I wanted to color this bag myself (nagpapaka-artist lang) eh I let lil’ Ms. GJG do it. Her face lit up upon seeing there’s markers at the back of this Eco-bag, it was a sign so sure that she wants to art attack this herself. Good thing, she’s a caring lil’ girl and asked me to be an artist along with her. If you can see, I partly colored the rocket and Jupiter, the rest was all her. I think I have an artist in the making! 🙂
Speaking of artists, if you are one or know someone who has awesome drawing skills then this is your chance to become famous! Havaianas is looking for the next big artist to collaborate with. You+Havaianas is all about finding a design they’ll include in their 2014 collection. Could it be you? Submit your entires at http://youandhavaianas.com
Make Your Own Havaianas 2013 is happening today May 2 til May 5, 2013 at The Rockwell Tent. For more information follow @havaianasphils on Twitter and Instagram and like them on Facebook.
