Meet Alex & Ani

I first met Alex and Ani when I was browsing for some pegs for street style. The hype of piling on accessories back in 2009 was something I was interested in and probably the only kind of accessorizing I do. As I further my research (more like, Googling) I saw there were more than a pageful of images with the similar stacked bracelets. That’s when I’ve confirmed more than a few Hollywood celebrities are sporting this famous accessory.

Since then I wanted to get my hands on some Alex and Ani not because they’re worn by celebrities, it’s because of their advocacy.

Bet na bet! Because you all know I’m an ambassador for positivity and happiness! I believe (yes beauty queen?!) whatever energy you emit, the people that surrounds you absorb it. People with positive energy tends to attract the same people or if not, at least influence those who have negative energy to convert. So if I may suggest, hang out with happy people! That’s how I see it and that’s how I’d like to believe that whatever energy we have has an impact in our lives. Anyway, so when I saw Tin aka Manila Fashion Observer posted on her Instagram that Alex & Ani is now available here in Manila, I was excited. We went to Itsie Bitsie where they were housed to check them out.

Founder and creative designer Carolyn Rafaelian embraces a philosophy that is based upon using eco-friendly, recycled materials made entirely in the United States. Because of this, Alex and Ani is able to purchase metals from local mills who have received recycled scraps from refineries, which in turn, use those pieces and sell their scraps back to the Mills.

Carolyn believes that by creating designs that support the environment and encourage social consciousness, consumers can use their purchases to make a difference in protecting our planet and our future.

I just had to try them on. The oval ones are pretty don’t you think?

So my first Alex & Ani bracelet is this lovely four leaf clover. I identify myself to this symbol because I feel like I am one lucky person. Best in panalo ako when it comes to raffles ha. But more than that, I guess I’m lucky in general. I may or may not have made the right choices in life but these led me to learn and be a better person. If you notice my blog’s logo, its an owl holding a four leaf clover. That explains it. Heehee,

Because I couldn’t resist, I got two more bracelets. This time, I chose from their saints collection. Now I have three!

The four leaf clover symbolizes blessing, fortune and prosperity. Aba, achieve!

Meanwhile, I immediately wanted this Mother Mary bracelet. It symbolizes grace, compassion and hope. All which I am fervently praying for everyday. Silver bracelet is at 1,275 php.

I also chose this Saint Anthony bracelet. Its for selflessness, guidance and illumination. 

I think I’m hooked. Eeeeep!
