California Pizza Kitchen introduces a few dishes as part of their new menu for 2015. I got to try it alongside a handful of bloggers one afternoon at their CPK Shangri La mall restaurant. I admit, I felt sad knowing they no longer offer their shrimp spring rolls. I used to crave that when I was pregnant with lil’ Ms. JG & lil’ Mr. JG. but I was quite excited knowing there’s new offerings to try as I’m sure I’ll have a new favorite from the new menu.
Watermelon Mango Combo Shake, P195
To start, we had a refreshing drink – the watermelon mango shake was the perfect drink to chug down that hot afternoon.
Fruit N’ Nut, P275
A unique blend of mixed fruits, nuts and avocado that pairs perfectly with our fresh orange herb vinaigrette.
This is such a unique appetizer and I truly enjoyed it. It has the right mix of flavor (sweet & sour) and texture. The soft fruits blended well with the crunch nuts. I can eat this all by myself.
Mexicali, P275
A feisty salad with the bold and fresh flavors of Mexico.
Crush the tortilla and sprinkle it all over the mexicali for that extra texture and flavor. Surprisingly, it’s refreshing despite the bold and fresh flavor.
Puttanesca, P295
A fiery and fragrant dish that’s a perfect way to spice up your day.
Vegetable Primavera, Personal P275| Sharing 495
A light and healthy pasta topped with fresh vegetables and delicious sun-dried tomato oil.
Steak Mushroom + Truffle, Personal P375 | Regular P695
Delicate aromatic and to die for!
The steak was tender and the hint of truffle complemented it.
Caramelized Apple, Bacon + Gorgonzola, Personal P225| Regular P375
Sweet and savoury, you’ll love it!
My favorite among the pizzas. The marriage of sweet and savoury is perfect! Is it just me or because it has bacon? Salty bacon paired with sweet apple. It’s goooood!
Baja Pizza, P545
A truly tempting Mexicali pizza with bold and innovative flavors.
For those who like it hot, (like I do) Baja pizza is for you. The baja sauce gives the kick together with the jalapeño toppings. The avocado slices tries to contradict the spicy flavor but I think gives more texture than flavor.
California Pizza Kitchen steps up its game as it rolls out a new menu of creative, innovative, and inspiring dishes. In celebration of its 18 strong years in the causal dining industry, CPK stays true to its roots by bringing the California spirit in every dish they serve and taking their guests on a culinary adventure. This year, CPK’s new menu boasts not only of new pizza offerings, but also mouthwatering pastas, exciting salads and scrumptious desserts.
Salted Chocolate Cake with Caramel Sauce, P245
I like my chocolate sweet and unfortunately, this salted chocolate cake wasn’t sweet enough. If it’s anything, it tasted like a homemade chocolate cake topped with salt & walnut, and the plate drizzled with caramel sauce. I truly expected more since I’m such a fan of desserts.
Queso De Bola Cheesecake, P350
While I’m not a fan of cheese for dessert, I find this one an exemption. Textured and rich cheesecake that pretty much resembles that of an ensaymada (cheese pastry).
Thanks CPK for having us! I now have my new favourites!
I liked the new pizzas and salads so much that my family and I went back the week after for Mr. JG’s birthday lunch. Check out my snaps on Snapchat for more real-time stories @gojackiego 🙂
