I can’t believe one of my favorite months is already here. Started this week doing my first ever 15k run. It’s my longest run to date. I’ve never tried going past 10k because, well my body is so used to 10k, I literally stop when I reach this distance.
This was in preparation for my first ever half marathon, Sunday of this week. I didn’t want to to think too much about it because I know I tend to overthink. So I just clocked in my first 15k and went about doing yoga, Pilates & functional training the rest of the week.
Pilates with my fave classmates.
TRX training to strengthen my core and legs. Here I was wearing MillennX top and tights. Love how comfy it feels!
Also went to Svenson to have my scalp checked. This year I’m taking extra care of my skin as well as my scalp/hair by being more mindful of the products I use on them and treating them right.
To be honest, I’ve never been confident about my hair. While I do have thick strands, there’s thinning on the front , particularly the left and right side. It was thin na since I was young (hello baby hair) but it got thinner when after giving birth to my kids. I also noticed my hairline reduced. The image on the screen has only a few hair follicles and some are even blocked with dirt and dandruff (dirt was because I just came from the gym heehee). Both my parents have history of thinning hair so there’s big chance that I will experience hair loss too whenI get older. But I was reassured during my consultation that it’s not too late for me to start treating my scalp to prevent further hair loss. So I was recommended to try Svenson’s Scalp Corrective treatment.
This treatment declogs the scalp of dirt and debris, making it a good environment for healthy hair to grow. It penetrates deeper than any shampoo and prepares the hair follicles for other treatments. It removes excess oil and sloughs off flakes.
The treatment only takes about 20 minutes but if you come in to have your hair shampooed it’ll take about 30 minutes overall. The procedure uses an air spray to apply the treatments directly to your scalp. Two vials are used and each application requires 5 minutes of letting it seep into the scalp. No downtime but it’s required to at least keep the scalp clean for 8-12 hours. It is recommended for anyone doing the Scalp Corrective treatment to be done 2-3 times a week for better results. I plan to do 3 times a week but let’s see if my schedule can take it. I’ll update my treatments and let you guys in on how my scalp is after a month of going! This week I also went to see Janie of Elev8 studio. Remember last week I did my first Lagree class with them?
I went back to have my body analysis and nutrition checked by Janie. I haven’t done this in years and I figured with all the changes my body has been through (having PCOS & leaky gut) and learning what food I can take, it’s time I do it again just to see where I’m at and know what I need should I shift or have a particular fitness goal in mind.
Anyhow, this was my results. My numbers according to Janie were good. I was surprised that my metabolic age is 18! I guess I must be doing things right because despite my hormonal imbalance & leaky gut, working out regularly and trying to eat right (by right I mean nourishing my body with nutrients that it needs). If you’re interested in getting your body composition analysis or want to know your macro nutrient you can book a program over at https://www.elev8.ph/nutrition-programs/
Welcomed the weekend with yummy gluten-free & vegan pizzas from Pizza Morena! So happy they have these options! Of all the dairy I avoid, it’s cheese that I miss and have been craving for. So knowing there’s an option for me to enjoy pizza makes me so happy!
Slept in early that Saturday because I had to wake up at 1 in the morning of Sunday to run my very first half marathon. I wasn’t expecting anything, I just wanted to finish the race. So many unexpected things happened to me. Sudden downpour at the starting line three minutes before gun start. While everyone was cheering and happy because it was cold, I was panicking because I was already feeling cold & chilly. Huhuhu. I also struggled during the first 3 kilometers because my pace was too fast that I was catching my breath on the 4th & 5th kilometers. Thank God my good friend and pacer, Jeff Lo of Pinoy Fitness was there to help me figure things out.
You can watch the video we made of our run to know the struggles I experienced during my first half mary!
Just happy that I managed to finish. I wasn’t looking at having a particular time or finishing fast. I was focused on finishing the race. Didn’t matter if our plan of doing 900-100 was changed to 400-100. It was definitely a good learning experience for me. Thank you so much Skechers Philippine for having me!
This was me a few hours after the race. I managed to get ready for church and have lunch with my family. My post race smile because I still can’t believed I did my first 21k!
That afternoon, I asked Mr. JG if we can get a massage as a form of recovery. We went to the newly opened The Spa branch in The Podium mall. I love the interiors! It was such a treat to get a good massage after the run.
I burned so much calories that day that I was hungry most of the time. It was a great day and a good way to cap off the week.
