I’m a self-confessed coffee addict. Coffee is a huge part of my day as I cannot function properly without it and one of the things I always look forward to in the morning is enjoying my first cup, while taking in all the beauty that’s slowly unfolding. I guess it’s safe enough to say that I cannot live without coffee. In our futrue dream home, we plan to have a coffee bar/ library-it’s a must for coffee junkie bookworm me. This, plus owning a coffee shop are just two of my ultimate dreams which we are working on to achieve in the future. Push ko talaga to! As if the coffee fairies heard my plea, when Coffeemate enrolled me to their barista university where I was able to unleash the coffee making skills.
The half-day Coffeemate Barista University session was held at CO/OP in San Juan where my fellow bloggers and I learned different coffee recipes. I love the personal apron which I got to take home. Lakas maka-pro barista!
One of the many shelves that houses cute and quirky home decors. CO/OP is a medyo artsy fartsy hangout/chillax restaurant. Will do a separate post on CO/OP next time.
The lovely & legit baristas Lloyd, Shiela and Stephanie were eager to teach us wannabes how to create simple coffee concoctions.
After the demonstrations from the baristas, we were challenged to make our drink. We were tasked to whip up our very own Creamy Caramel Macchiato topped with a creamy froth. Challenge accepted!
It’s easy really. But what was challenging was creating the creamy froth.
I mixed equal parts or Coffeemate creamer and lukewarm water and used an electronic frother to make it creamier.
Our instructor Barista Lloyd, commented on how frothy looking my caramel macchiato was. Yay! 🙂 We were tasked to add coffee art on top of our drink, but I failed in that aspect as my coffee art quickly dissolved shortly after putting it.
Still, achievement unlocked for I created my very own Creamy Caramel Macchiato. Hoooraaay! 🙂
After our individual challenge, our group challenge was next. Table #5 girls Patty, Nicole, Fozzy and I must create our own Creamy Cookies & Cream Iced Coffee using only the ingredients available while following the instructions on our barista booklet. Again, challenge accepted.
Like the Creamy Caramel Macchiato challenge, this one’s also pretty easy. Just mix everything in the blender and add a few ingredients to make the drink unique and flavourful.
After deciding on what our drink should tastes like, we proceeded to styling and naming it.
Tadah! Here’s our Creamy Cookies & Cream Iced Coffee: Baby It’s Cold Outside. As Nicole explained it, it’s a mixture of creamy coffee blended with cookies and cream, giving a warm & familiar feeling despite it being a cold drink. Naaaaaks.
Table #5 Patty Herrera, Nicole Andersson, Fozzy Dayrit & I. Although we didn’t win the group challenge, our team mate Nicole’s efforts paid off as she was awarded MVB- Most Valuable Blogger! Ikaaaaw na girl.
Class Picture! The graduates of Barista University batch November 2014! Heehee. We had so much fun learning about the different coffee recipes.
Thank you so much Coffeemate for making my barista dreams come true! Excited to #createwithCoffeemate my #creamiestever drinks at home.
