You all know by now who The Fat Kid Inside is, he’s Erwan Heussaff. He has always loved food. But in his younger years, he overindulged. Poor food choices, coupled with a sedentary lifestyle, made him balloon up to 240 pounds. He was prepared to make changes, but knew that the path to better health would be tough. “In truth, there is no easy way to lose weight”, Erwan says. Echoing Team Manila’s philosophy that positive change doesn’t happen overnight, Erwan focused on “pure dedication, tireless hours of hard work and yes, food.” He cooked his way to fitness. In four years, Erwan shed 91 pounds and now tips the scale at a lean 149 pounds.
I honestly cannot relate to Erwan. I never had any weight issues growing up because I am genetically (I assume) slim. It wasn’t until after I got married, pregnant and gave birth twice did I realize that weight gain can happen no matter how “thin” or genetically lucky you are. Post-pregnancy weight is always one of the reasons new moms get depressed. When you’ve gain so much than the average and you don’t effortlessly (or not) shed them right away, it’s an issue. You feel self-conscious and uncertain if you could ever be the same person again. In this world where slim is considered conventional and pretty, weight is always an issue.
Nonetheless, I support Erwan’s cause. Healthy eating and living indeed are the way to go. But I gotta confess, I am still in the process of doing these for myself and for my family. Eventually, I hope I get there. Looking through his blog, I am determined I’ll be able to serve my family healthy meals more often.
I was able to see the Team Manila x The Fat Kid Inside collaboration the day it was made available in the stores.
The first thing that caught my eye was the black tank top.
Erwan was at the Team Manila store at Powerplant Mall signing shirts and having his photo taken with those who purchased TMxTFKI items.
Of course I didn’t miss the opportunity to have a photo op with THE Erwan Heussaff. Sige na girls, ma-inggit na kayo. Haymsowsoreeeeh! 😀
Also these posters caught my attention too. I want them for my home.
Because sweetness is my weakness, I got some Theo Philo chocolates. Noms.
Bloggers full support! Paul, Angela, Sarah, Ana, Kelly & I.
These are what I got from the TMxTFKI collab. OOTD soonech itechies! Heehee.
Thank you Team Manila for having us! I was really inspired to live healthy tuloy. Healthy & wellness, you’re my goal next year! Of course, I won’t let go of sweets but I promise, I’ll prepare more healthy meals to compensate. 😉
