Capturing every milestone of our kids I think is SOP (standard operating procedure that is) to all parents. I mean who would want to miss out on anything new? Although I have been hands on with my daughter Gabbie from day 1, I admit I am guilty when it comes to capturing every moment possible because when I greatly focus on one thing, I tend to slack off on the others, sadly my being OC lost this battle. You can’t really blame me. As much as I’ve wanted and have psyched myself even before I was pregnant to document everything especially my daughter’s first year I meticulously wasn’t able to. Blame the tiredness brought about by lack of sleep, waking up in the wee hours of the night during the first few months, the breastfeeding, the frequent nappy changing as well as the postpartum & the post CS drama I’ve had. Sad that I didn’t have a decent picture of my protruding belly before I delivered Gabbie and her supposedly first twelve months of ‘growing up’ studio shot pictures (she only had one around her fifth month). I can only conclude that the main reason is that my husband and I were too preoccupied being first time parents. Not to mention that we really haven’t found the perfect studio partner that could meet our expectations.
So fast forward to now, Gabbie is a year and eight months old (today to be exact). I can confidently say that we have found the one.
Shutterbugz Studio was established mainly to produce memories in quality prints at a more affordable price and to offer clients the option of having hi-res copies for themselves to keep. It was out of the frustration and desperation of one of the owners, who was addicted to her children’s photos, in which the studio began. Her experience from other studios’ service and mass quality for the same given time frame disappointed her. It continues to run to share the opportunity for other parents and families to have memorable portraits to keep to last their lifetime.
Shutterbugz Studio is a family oriented studio that focuses on capturing children, as well as families, into portraits to last forever in one’s hearts. We serve to get that picture perfect memory in print. We encourage friendly interaction in our cozy studio as we try to bring out the best yet natural mood to capture them on camera. We provide a delightful experience and quality that would make you contented. Shutterbugz experience is something every family should encounter.
Business partners run operations personally. We are very casual and the atmosphere is exceptionally laidback. We have a very cozy and comfortable studio environment (where children can be at ease to relax and/or play for a while before the shoot). Quality control is our top priority and final editing is done by one of the owners as well. We do like to talk to the clients as well to give a friendlier and warmer feeling.

I was pretty much excited and at the same time anxious about the scheduled photo shoot of Gabbie. Although she’s been very game in posing on and off cam, I was hesitant that she might have her tantrums given this was her first shoot after she turned a year old (well, VTRs are a different story). We scheduled her shoot at four in the afternoon, enough time to beat the traffic the dismissal of schools around our place bring and right after Gabbie’s nap time. To my surprise, the little girl was a tad bit excited, slept earlier than her routine nap time and woke up an hour before our scheduled shoot. So there was enough time to prep her and engage her by taking her pictures and letting her just enjoy and loosen up.
Here’s a sneak peak of Shutterbugz studio.
I like how colorful the interior is as well as how they opted for a minimalist look, not a clutter in sight which is perfect for kids to roam around, play and just have fun.
The place is cozy and comfortable especially for kids. The minute we walked in, Gabbie was a bit shy given there were strangers greeting her. But after a few minutes of looking around and assessing the place, she warmed up. Gabbie immediately pointed out the portraits of kids, she even pointed at the cute drawer handles and started saying ‘hi’ to everyone.
The colorful stools immediately grabbed Gabbie’s attention and the large plastic storage bin was full of toys that she had fun playing with. The costumes and props were provided with a wide variety to choose from. I personally had a hard time choosing what to let Gabbie wear. Oh and if you’re as OC as I am don’t fret, every costume is sent for cleaning after it’s been used. I even saw some brand new ones!
You have an option to pick out the color of the background if you find the plain white boring. But as for me, even though I love colors I opted to stick to white and focused more on the colorful costumes for my little one. They don’t only offer to shoot and capture portraits of infants and kids, but they cater to well, anything that can be shot! Whether you want a picture with family, friends or even your pet or your product (if your a business owner), Shutterbugz can get the job done.
Spot Jester who’s literally behind the scene making sure my Gabbie’s comfortable and safe while I take pictures.
What I liked most as a client was that there was no pressure when it came to shooting right away because of the allotted one hour. In fact, they even suggested that Gabbie and I take our time to get familiarized with the set up and lights first by playing with the toys, looking around and picking costumes so that Gabbie will be in a good mood by the time the shoot started. They actually allow a maximum of two hours especially if the client involves an infant or a toddler. Plus according to JJ who’s one of the owners, they book clients with an ample amount of time apart from each other so as to avoid conflict and to not make clients feel pressured/harassed to finish on the dot.
Gabbie still all smiles even after her shoot, she sure did have fun. Thank you to Martin (the photographer) for being patient with Gabbie and for capturing wonderful shots of her. Thank you also to Jester (one of the owners of Shutterbugz Studio) for being so accomodating and also for being hands on. Gabbie wouldn’t have felt at ease if it weren’t for your effort of reaching out to her.
So not to keep you lovely readers waiting, I’d like to share with you my daughter’s photos.
As a mom, having a good relationship with people who handle services that focuses primarily on my daughter is something that I truly value. It is (at least for me) a basis of meeting customer service satisfaction. Knowing that the owners are hands on with their business is proof of how dedicated they are in building a good relationship with their clients. Which is actually enough for me to know that my family and I are in good hands. Wishing more entrepreneurs are like this, that beyond the profit and popularity, a good relationship with clients is also considered.
Thanks again Shutterbugz Studio! Gabbie and I had an amazing time during her shoot. We’d visit you guys again soon, probably for our Christmas portrait or even a Halloween one. I hope we also get to meet the rest of the people behind Shutterbugz Studio, photographer and also co-owner Jude Fernandez and JJ Chua.
