I’ve always preferred matte lipstick over any other finish. For one, it stays longer on my lips – a characteristic that I always consider whenever I choose a lipstick because I am one of those girls who just can’t keep it on their lips (read: I either eat them or it goes anywhere else like my cheek or teeth!).
So when there’s a new matte lippie in town, I sure get giddy! A few days ago, Revlon sent me their newest lippie – Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor™.
Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor™, for velvety matte high definition color with a lightweight, moisturizing feel. Don’t put up with cakey and drying matte products any longer, this formula really delivers that beautiful matte finish with a lightweight moisturizing feel.
It comes in 8 shades: HD Addiction, HD Devotion, HD Passion, HD Obsession, HD Seduction, HD Love, HD Temptation, and HD Flirtation. I got Seduction, Devotion and Passion.
It is formulated with Revlon’s 100% wax-free gel technology providing vivid color in every velvety smooth swipe. A plush, velvety applicator provides easy, smooth application.
Immediately, Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor™ had me at wax-free gel. Also, the intoxicating fruity smell of whipped vanilla and cream mango got me more excited to try it. It’s probably the best smelling matte lippie I’ve ever tried.
Intial impression at first swipe? Why does it look glossy?! So I applied it on my lips to see if it would give the same finish.

I love Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor™ because…
… it smells so good, I am tempted to eat it!
… it’s easy to apply, all thanks to its lip brush that glides smoothly on the lips.
… the three shades I tried are great representatives of each color family: Seduction ( peachy nude), Devotion (rosy pink) and Passion (red). For me peachy nude, rosy pink and red lipsticks are staples for every woman.
I wish it…
… it doesn’t have that shiny effect, it doesn’t really look matte to me.
… it lasts longer on my lips. Most matte lipsticks, when swipped off still has pigments left on my lips. But with Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor™, it left only sheer color.
… it didn’t dry my lips as much. Unfortunately, I left my lips dry than it already is. Perhaps I should put lip balm first before applying it to make my lips less dry?
Here’s what the swatches looked like after gently blotting off with tissue. It’s the matte that I was looking for but the color barely stayed.
After wiping off Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor™ Passion from my lips, this is what it looks like. It isn’t as highly pigmented as I hoped it to be and it left my lips chapped. Still, I would wear Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor™ particularly the Seduction shade because for me, it’s the perfect peachy nude lipstick. While I find it drying my lips more, I would still use it but this time with lip balm as base first. If you have dry lips like me, its best to use Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor™ every other day.
Revlon Ultra HD Matte Lipcolor™ retails for Php 575 each and is available starting February at all Revlon counters in leading Department stores nationwide.
