One of the things I cannot leave the house without aside from my keys, wallet, phone, wipes, alcohol, chocolates, toiletries (hmmmm, maybe I should write a separate post for this) is my mobile phone’s power bank. If you’re fully utilizing the capacity of your smart phone, the battery doesn’t last all day, especially if you’re using your mobile’s data connection. I’ve had my fair share of power banks, mostly were given to me and most of them are good for only one charge cycle. So when I got a MiPow Power Tube 5200 last year as part of the giveaway they gave during their PlayBulb launch, I couldn’t help but test it right away. It’s got a few neat features that other power banks don’t offer. One of its key features is an app that can help you track if it’s near where your phone is. Di ba? Hello technology! Perfect to for people like me who often change bags for we tend to misplace some of our belongings, parang tracking device lang ang dating! 🙂
So here’s a quick review on MiPow Power Tube 5200.

Power Tube Simple 5200 is a portable charging gadget compatible with most Micro USB powered devices like Samsung, HTC, Motorola, Sony Ericsson, Blackberry and tablets and game consoles. It can provide your device with 5200mAh extra capacity.
It comes with a pouch, a strap and a USB cable.
I like that it’s compact and slim, it fits my hand.
MiPow Power Tube 5200 is not just a power bank. It can tell you when it’s away from your phone, its battery temperature and battery percentage all with a few clicks on your smart phone. To start enjoying this feature, simply download the MiPow Juice Sync app on iTunes or Google Play store.
Once you’ve downloaded the app, connect your MiPow Power Tube via Bluetooth so you can start enjoying these features.
You can rename your MiPow Power Tube too. In my case, I named it Go Jackie Go. Heehee.
Here’s what it used to look like before the update. Just click the tabs if you want to know the different features such as battery percentage, temperature and away alert.
Here’s what it looks like now. Sleek and clean interface, just the way I like it. 😀
I like MiPow Power Tube 5200 because:
Away alert lets me know when my phone is away from it. This usually happens when I go to my Pilates studio, oftentimes I don’t bring it with me. I also like that the away alert helps me detect where it is. Then I’d have the urgency to unclutter my bag or keep in mind to bring it hand in hand with my phone at all times.
It gives temperature alert. In a tropical country like the Philippines, it’s most of the time hot. And we know that batteries and heat don’t go well together.
My iPhone 5 gets two complete charge cycles with it. This means I don’t need to worry about having empty battery especially when I’m out and about.
It alerts me if my battery is at 30%, 20% or 10%. I can choose among these three options. I usually set it at 20% and when it alerts, it gives me enough time to recharge it.
It’s slim and discreet. It can fit in my clutch bag easily.
I can directly charge it on my laptop without needing its USB cable.
I wish that the Apple connector works though. The one I got was too loose that it couldn’t really connect my phone to it. I had to use my phone’s cable charger instead.
Overall, MiPow Power Tube 5200 is a power bank that one can consider when looking for a sturdy yet slim power bank that’s good for everyday use.
