First time to be acquainted with Korean brand Banila Co. It’s famous for its base makeup line which particularly helps women achieve the Korean #litfromwithin look. So being the eager beaver person that I am when it comes to makeup and skincare, I was pretty excited to open the package I received from them.
It Radiant CC Sun Base SPF50+ PA+++ at P1,195 & It Radiant CC Cushion SPF35 PA++ at P1,680
Two base makeups that I’ve read of good reviews. It was natural for me to immediately try it for my satisfaction.
I diverted from wearing makeup, particularly foundation & all the other unnecessary makeup base–especially now that its just so hot and humid– to achieve that flawless skin because I know how sticky and irritating it can get. Especially now that I’m at the beach getting a tan, I stick instead to one base that can help me achieve that dewy, glowing skin. So I have high hopes that Banila Co It Radiant CC Sun Base & Cushion will be added to my roster of products to give me that barely there makeup look.
It Radiant CC Sun Base
It has buildable coverage that corrects lackluster skin tone and imparts a dewy, flawless complexion without a sticky feeling. It has SPF50+ to protect the skin from the harsh UV rays of the sun.- Apply onto face as a daily sun cream or as a make-up base.
My before & after photo. I have a few pimples here and there –blaming it on PMS, ugh!– Since CC creams generally have no coverage, I didn’t hope it would cover any of my skin imperfections but, I was however hoping it would help even out my skin tone since its purpose is to do just that.
Unfortunately as you can see, white cast was very evident shortly after I applied the It Radiant CC Sun Base on my face. I have the SPF 50+ to blame for–most sunscreens tend to give white cast. It only comes in one shade so if you’re on the medium brown side like I am, you’d have a white cast issue which no women would ever want. Though it’s smooth and its consistency is light upon application, I still feel iffy wearing it–best I can do is wear it at the beach. I waited for an hour or two for it to set but to my dismay the white cast was still evident. I didn’t bother trying to layer it with my foundation because I know it wouldn’t do any good. If my base is light, no amount of coverage can tone down the cast–if anything, layering will only make it thicker & unnatural looking. I could say It Radiant CC Sun Base is suitable for women with fair skin or anyone who don’t mind layering and building up their base.
It Radiant CC Cushion SPF 35 PA++
A lightweight, water-base CC Cushion which hydrates and gives the skin a radiant, sheer finish. It corrects skin tone and helps keep your make-up stay put all day long. Ideal for touch-ups.- Use the included puff and press onto product. Tap onto face gently until desired coverage is achieved. Free refill included.
It comes in three shades & I got to try their darkest shade– BE20 Honey Beige.
I had my hopes up ‘coz from the looks of the swatches, Honey Beige is certainly my shade. But once I tried it on me, it proved otherwise. A slight white cast is seen no? If only my skin tone is a shade lighter, this would be perfect for me. Still, I like how it gives more coverage than the CC Sun Base. The upside? The sheer finish makes for a good base which allows me to build it up–I layer it with powder to achieve the right shade. The downside? I cannot wear it alone nor use it for touchups.
Banila Co It Radiant CC Sun Base and CC Cushion SPF 35 PA++ are available at Banilla Co shops in Glorietta 4 and Landmark Trinoma. Get them also online through Zalora, BeautyMNL, Lazada and Calyxta.
