Last month, PROMIL® Four launched their i-Shine® Talent Camp for the year. Compared to other years which have been a talent search, this year the talent camp is opened to a bigger reach within Metro Manila. Four different camps with equally four amazing camp masters. These workshops are bound to really help your child nurture his gift or at the very least unleashed hidden talents.
My five year old Juro was super thrilled to see the different camps and what they offer. When I asked him what he wanted to join he first said art, then changed his mind and said music because he wanted to learn how to play drums. Before the event ended he suddenly started dancing but then ended wanting to create robots and other fun stuff. If our schedule permits we can attend all four camps. But for his first one, we’ll do Engineering For Kids simply because he’s good at building things.
His imagination is ignited with the things he sees around him. I oftentimes find him playing and creating things that sparked his curiosity.
He’s also into Lego and would everyday create a different world or dimension with his own characters and storyline. I think his knack for creating something solely based from his imagination is something I can help nurture by enrolling him to Engineering For Kids. He can create robots, buildings or whatever contraption he can think of. And I’m excited for him to do so. Registered and ready!
What I like about this year’s i-Shine® Talent Camp is there are 10 workshop sessions per camp and an option to choose your area (for Engineering for Kids they are located in different cities across Metro Manila) so it’s easier for us parents to bring our kids to their chosen camp. Check out a more detailed information about each camp and their respective camp masters.
THE DANCE CAMP
Nurture your Little Dancer with the help of the Experts.
Kids who got the beat, the moves, and the grooves will be nurtured by the Celebrity Dance Master herself, Teacher Georcelle Dapat-Sy with her G-Force dance group.
Teacher Georcelle was a professional dancer at the age of 14 and a choreographer by l6, she is one of the youngest names in the dancing industry of her time. Now the artistic director of the popular dance group G-Force, she continues to share her experiences and expertise to her growing team and to other aspiring dancers.
With her and her force’s expertise, kids will learn not just the choreography, spatial awareness, and different dance routines, but also they will be taught how to work with other kids, how to have discipline and other values that would help them pursue their dancing dreams.
WORKSHOP MODULES
Classes are assigned by age group, me and my little force for ages 3-4, the Junior class from ages 5-7, and the Senior class from 8-11 years old. All classes will have the same modules but different approaches.
Module 1: The Meet and Greet
Kids and parents will be oriented with the entire program and get to learn the importance of warm up, working with other kids, discipline and other values that will enable them to pursue their dancing dreams. Each student will be given a dance combination based on teacher’s assessments.
Module 2: The Choreography
Kids’ ability to catch up with the choreography will be tested as more routines will be added on the choreography.
Module 3: The Spatial Awareness
As the kids learn more dance combinations, they will be more familiar with the spatial awareness on the dance floor as they do different routines with formations.
Module 4: Putting Everything Together
Kids will start to prepare for the recital by putting everything together, from warm-ups, to different dance routines and formations.
Module 6: The Preparation
More than just the dance routine, kids will be prepared for the big day. From photo shoots, to Teacher Georcelle’s mentoring everyone gets hyped-up for the recital.

THE ENGINEERING CAMP
Nurture your Little Engineer with the help of the Experts.
Kids who are always inquisitive with how things or machines work will learn from a premier institution that specializes in modern, interactive learning experience for kids, the Engineering for Kids, led by their Head Faculty, Teacher Lei Sta. Maria.
The STEM and STEAM advocate in her, Teacher Lei made her one of the pioneer teachers in SMILE who implemented Engineering for Kids in the Philippines in 2014. She then sought further training on STEM Education and Methodology in 2015 from no other than Dr. Diana Grabowski herself.
On top of being a certified yoga teacher for kids and families she continues what she started in SMILE Group as the head of faculty.
WORKSHOP MODULES
Available classes are by age group, the Junior class from ages 3-6, and the Senior class from 7-11 years old. Both classes will have the same modules but different approaches.
Junior Class Modules:
Module 1: Chemical Engineering, TheOobleck
In this lesson, kids will explore the different states of matter: solid, liquid, and gas. They will investigate different materials and learn about the properties of Non-Newtonian fluid.
Module 2: Aerospace Engineering, The Balloon Rockets
Students will design and build their own paper rockets as they explore different parts of a rocket. They will also investigate how these rockets can be launched using air power as they build and test a stomp rocket using recycled materials.
Module 3: Mechanical Engineering, Catapults
During this lesson, students will investigate the design and physics of a catapult. They will build a basic catapult using easy to find materials to launch projectiles as they explore the concepts of different forces and measurements.
Module 4: Civil Engineering, Marshmallow Bridges
Students will design, build, test, and improve a bridge using sweet treats while exploring geometrical shapes, and structural concepts such as stable foundations.
Module 5: Junior Robotics, Amazing Mechanisms
During this session, the students will have fun while collaborating and learning as they use the LEGO®, WeDoTM Robots. They will learn how to program and to operate their creations using a laptop computer.
Module 6: Hardware Engineering: Human Wire
Students will explore a fun and engaging device called Makey Makey. They will investigate which materials may be used as controllers as they play.
