It’s true what they say about having a good relationship with your hairstylist. I believe this is essential for any woman–even man too–who regularly visits the salon because our crowning glory shouldn’t be taken for granted. I’m not getting any younger and I’m glad I have a go-to salon I can really rely on. I first visited Design Studio Salon back in 2015 and I have been going there ever since.
I try to go at least once every two months to refresh my hair color. During my last visit not only did I have my hair color refreshed, I also had a hair makeover.
What’s new about getting a hair treatment? Olaplaex is and I’ve finally tried for the first time. I’ve read about this magical hair treatment that can let one color her hair to her heart’s desire and cause little hair stress/damage. Wait, seriously?
You know our hair can be damaged in so many ways: Thermal (constant flat ironing, curling, blowdrying, high temperature of water when showering, over exposure to the sun), Chemical (over processed hair, too frequent processing of hair etc),and Mechanical (tight tying of pony tail/braids etc).
Scientifically, our hair strands are made up of Keratin which is made up of linked proteins and then made up of disulfide bonds. That’s why our hair is strong. But with constant abuse to our hair, all of the bonds are broken, making the hair weak and creating the dreaded frizz. Olaplex goes in the hair shaft and repairs the broken bonds, making the hair healthier and now stronger to undergo the various services a salon offers.
Thankfully, the curiosity of Design Studio owner Chiarra lead her to discover Olaplex. According to her, top stylists and Hollywood celebrities swear by this miracle in a bottle. Turns out it’s the pioneer product in reversing hair damage. It works so well that according to her, a week after they were launched in the market, big brands have tried to come up with their own version of Olaplex.
WHAT IS OLAPLEX?
- It is the first product in the market that reverses hair damage. It’s dubbed as “insurance for the hair” may it be for damaged or non damaged hair–it can prevent damage and repair hair!
- It can be used during any salon service : Coloring, Bleaching, Straightening, Perming, and as a Standalone Service–recommended for severely damaged/porous hair and will be compatible with any brand of colorants/straighteners etc.
- It is entirely non-toxic, not tested on animals and no allergens–still best to advise pregnant/nursing mom to refrain since they too cannot color/straighten their hair.
So I did the Olaplex treatment while I was having my hair colored. Amazing! I like that I don’t have to add another hour or two for the treatment because it can be mixed with hair dye. Also, I love that Olaplex doesn’t wash off and will remain in the hair until I go back to the salon and have another service such as hair rebond/blowout, hair color or hair treatment.

I’ve been getting a few compliments after I’ve posted my new do over on Instagram. Now that I know there’s such a thing as Olaplex, I’m more eager to be bolder when it comes to hair color. Hmmm maybe I should color my hair grey on my birthday come August?
