Tea. Another beautiful source of caffeine. I specifically like drinking tea at night before going to bed to relax and calm my ever so hyper self. I’ve been enjoying the regular cup of tea for years now and so when the “milk tea” craze hit Manila by storm, I was one of the few who were not much eager to try it. Yes, call me old-fashioned but I like my tea plain & simple thank you very much. BUT. Yes, here comes the big bad BUT! After being persuaded by my sister-in-law and friends about how good milk tea and its variants taste I couldn’t help but be persuaded.
So my milk tea journey began here.
I was pretty much excited to try Chatime because for the record, it was my first real milk tea experience. I’ve tried one or two milk teas before (sips here & there LOL) but this was my first time to actually experience it first hand. Am I making a big deal here? Yes, I think I am. Pardon me for that, you know every first time should be a memorable one 😉
As soon as we arrived, I felt I was an alien who landed on an unfamiliar terrain. Everyone was quite sure what to get while I concentrate on looking around and figuring out what’s so enticing about the place.
Chatime’s bold color choice of violet, yellow, black and pink gives a modern contrast to classic shades of green, white and yellow tea is often associated with. Not really your usual “tea time” everything spells modern and futuristic, don’t you agree?
And so after a few minutes of figuring out what I want, we finally ordered.
I ordered one of their best sellers: Pearl Milk Tea (regular) P80 with 100% sugar. There are options for ice & sugar; no ice, less ice, normal ice & extra ice; 0% sugar, 30% sugar, 50% sugar, 80% sugar, normal sugar (100%) and extra sugar. I like how these options are available, easier to personalize your drinks! Oh, you also have an option for additional toppings. Please see their menu (photo at the end of this post) for a more detailed information.
My verdict: it tasted different from the pearl milk teas I’ve tried before. Why? Because the tea was freshly brewed so it was flavorful. It was weird drinking it at first because I was accustomed to hot teas so it was really something my palette needs getting use to. Given I have a sweet tooth teeth LOL, I should’ve asked for an additional shot of sugar for the tea was a tad bit strong, bitter taste empowered the sweetness the pearls have but nonetheless it was one good pearl milk tea! 😉
I feel OC whenever people spell my name with a “-y” instead of “-ie”.
My friend Harley ordered Taro Pudding and I must commend that I loved it! Although its consistency is way much thicker than the milk tea I ordered, still it tasted good! Right sweetness (at 100%) and the drink was flavorful! Not really a fan of taro drinks but this one is indeed an exemption. Will order this one next time 😉
and since we were hungry, we decided to try Chatime’s Peppered chicken P70. Not that I love chicken (but I do!) but this one is indeed yummy! I love how crispy the batter was, (smothered with pepper) yet the meat of the chicken was juicy and chewy. It was so good that we even wanted to buy rice to eat it with!
Here’s their menu:
Overall, I enjoyed my milk tea experience at Chatime. I would recommend it to friends too! Although, I just wish Chatime would offer more food variety to pair with their yummy drinks.
We are happy & satisfied customers! 😉 (I & my friend, Harley)
