Sometimes dressing up can be a task. It requires lots of patience in mixing and matching clothes with the perfect shoes, bag and accessories to get that “achieved” look. But no matter how lovely your pieces are, it all boils down on how well you style (edit) the look. Styling may not be everyone’s second nature BUT it can be done by everyone. All you need is the right kind of tools (not to mention inspiration) to help you bag the look that you’ve been dying to try for yourself. Thank God for technology that almost everything is easier and faster. You can easily find inspirations and ideas online especially when it comes to dressing up. Nowadays, not looking nice is not a valid excuse at all.
If there’s one thing women like about technology, it is its ability to make their favorite pastime easier and faster: shopping (and everything in between). Thankfully, I was lucky enough to witness the unfolding of yet another useful & exciting application on Facebook that I know most women would like love, Nivea’s Glamboard Express application.
The Glam Express event was held last Thursday, August 11,2011 at Mango in Rockwell Power Plant Mall. The exclusive event was attended by fashion and beauty bloggers and online media people. The event also launched Nivea’s Express Hydration Lotion and Mango’s FW collection.
The lovely L.A. Ferriols of Clothing Not Optional hosted the event. Her ensemble for that night was all from Mango. She looked fab in her all-white outfit! I was secretly eyeing her look, later did I know that an online voting happened as to what outfit she was to wear for the event, good choice readers!
Here’s what I wore on the event. Spot this outfitey here.
With Earth & Roanne 🙂
It was such a pleasure meeting Earth of Earthlingorgeous and Roanne of All The Vanity Blog. We were the early birds of the event so we actually had the time to get to know each other, we instantly clicked! 😉
The event held a styling contest wherein guests were invited to join, all we had to do was form a group of three, style and dress up one of the group members using Mango’s latest collection. Given we were early and were pretty much game for anything that spells FUN, we decided to take part and was the first group to do the challenge. I was the “model” in our group and Earth & Roanne were the “stylists”.
Our peg was about “summer”, so here’s what we came up with. It’s actually similar to the fashion board given to us as reference, we were really happy with the result of our collective effort of styling.
As you can see based on the photos that we really did have fun doing the challenge.
Everything I wore for the look all came from Mango. From the pretty dress, to the dress-turned-coat, suade bag, scarf, green (oh so pretty!) bangles, cocktail ring and necklaces.
Except for my shoesay which is from Aldo.
We were too OC and keen on how close we can achieve the look from the peg that we finished around 20 minutes. We didn’t win the styling contest because the contest was about whoever group styled the fastest, but we definitely had fun doing the challenge. Now we know we have some styling powers! Right Earth & Roanne? 😉 Plus, the fact that I was able to try on Mango’s pre-fall (latest) collection made me all giddy! Everything was just too lovely!
Other than styling and clothes, the event also focused on the importance of caring for one’s skin. More often than not, we tend to forget that more than having great style & sporting different looks, we have to have healthy skin. Nivea has emphasized that skin is also an important fashion asset, I couldn’t agree more.
More photos of the event:
Nivea Executive, Ms. Raisa Mislang talked about Nivea’s 100th year and some of their products such as Nivea Express Hydration Body Lotion and Nivea Visage Q10 line (will post separate posts for it).
Mango’s Country Manager, Ms. Karen Chikiamco talked about Mango’s latest collection which is all about chic versatile items that can be worn day and night .
Take a look at Nivea’s Glamboard Express Facebook Application
We tried the Glamboard Express and we were very fond of it. We actually saw the pieces we put together for the styling challenge. Some cool features of the app includes posting the look you created and have your friends see it, like it and even share it with their friends as well, talk about interaction.
