I have to admit being a stay at home mom slash homemaker has a lot of advantage, one of which is spending my free time browsing through online catalogues finding inspiration in the sea of style and when the shopaholic in me feels the sudden itch to buy something, I satisfy my urge with some online shopping. Now that I’m pregnant with my second child, online window shopping has totally become part of my everyday routine. I find comfort just by pinning or tweeting looks and styles that caught my eye and again to satisfy my urge to shop, I pretend shop by clicking “add to cart” and that’s enough to make my day.
You see it holds true that when you become a mom you tend to feel guilty about buying something for yourself especially if you have a husband who’s very supportive of you and would rather let you shop for yourself and your child instead of buying something for himself thus earning 10 more guilty points.
But don’t get me wrong as you can see on my outfitey posts, you’ll see that despite having a tight budget, a mom to a toddler and currently pregnant I still manage to express my individuality as a woman and show off my own style. I think that given the different roles I play, dressing up and making an effort to look pretty is one great way of telling the world I’m still me.
So upon learning about ZALORA as an online shopping website that offers as fast as three hours delivery time upon ordering (it’s like ordering fast food!), accepts different modes of payment, 30 days return (which exceeded my customer-service satisfaction expectation), easy site navigation (no fuss, easy browsing), carries my favorite local & international brands, and best of all offers free shipping within the Philippines I was giddy! Immediately I signed up and started clicking the “add to cart” button. So many adorable and affordable clothes, accessories and of course shoes not only for women but for men and kids as well. Soon they’ll launch their home & living products, that’ll add a few more hours to my online shopping. Aaaaah, I can stay online all day just clickity clacking my way giving myself some style porn & eye candy.
If you ask me what items caught my attention this would’ve been my answer if I were still a single shopaholic student.
ME, MYSELF & I WISHLIST
I love shoes! Unique yet stylish shoes to be exact and this pair of moccasin from Chic Yamada really caught my attention.
Because dress has always been my thing and definitely has become my staple wear. This lovely Tom Abang Saufi wrap dress is just lovely, would be perfect to break away from my usual solid colored dresses.
Sunglasses can just about be a girl’s best accessory. For a mysterious yet classy feel, for the times when you’re in a hurry and needs an instant “umph” to your look, for the moments when you’re too lazy to cover those eye bags with concealer brought to you by a hangover or a sleepless night. This lovely pair of Prada is a perfect pair to sport on hot summers day. It’s big, it’s bold and it’s beautiful.
I’ve always wanted a macho-looking watch that’s sleek yet functional and yes this Phoshpor watch fits the bill. It is sleek and sexy, can be worn casually or on a semi-formal gathering.
Aaaah my love for Gucci has always been evident. I adore the intricate details the embossment in the leather strap showcases. It spells classic, sophisticated and feminine. The all white look is a statement itself, a luxury piece that I believe every woman should have.
Aren’t they all drool worthy?! If you agree then yes, we have the same taste *cheers!* I would definitely buy all these in a heartbeat, no questions asked. Although you might hear a little crying from my wallet & credit card, nonetheless I would’ve been a giddy woman planning on how and when to wear them! To be honest I still want these items, they would be a nice addition to my tiny yet staple-infested closet. After all these items would last a lifetime, good enough to even become heirlooms to my daughter someday. But because reality is that I have a lovely growing family, a slight paradigm shift happened along the way. My nurturing instincts and my attitude to think about my family first or at least in between what I want has subconsciously been imbedded. I now want these things instead. Correction, I am currently lusting over these things instead!
MY LOVELY WISHLIST
As a mom, carrying a bag big enough to fit the basic needs (read: disinfecting, prettifying and first aid+emergency kits) of my family & myself is mandatory. Gone are the days when I’ve sported a tiny tote bag that can only fit my wallet and cellphone. So this lovely leather (yes, I’m a sucker for leather goods) satchel can double as a blogger me bag on weekdays (it fits my 13″ Macbook) and a mommy me bag on weekends.
For my husband who isn’t very experimental when it comes to dressing up. Who’s very fatherly to provide for me and our family. This lovely RayBan Craft shades would be his perfect accessory aside from his wedding ring of course. The only thing he likes wearing is his shades especially during this summer. My gwapo yet simple looking husband would look even more gwapo (handsome) wearing this pair which I know would last for years, maybe he can pass it on as a vintage item to our baby boy someday.
For my hyper toddler Gabbie who loves wearing comfortable shoes that she can manage to remove on her own (still learning to put shoes on her own though). This cutesy pair of Tiny TOMS will last her more than a few times use, believe me she’s had a few pairs of shoes that only lasted a few usage mainly because she grew it out and that she really likes playing rough (poor shoes). I believe this one will make the cut through it’s canvas material that nicely hugs the feet giving enough room for the feet to comfortably grow plus it’s pink!
I’ve been an avid fan and user of Tommee Tippee products. We’ve been very constant in using their reliable Closer To Nature line of products from day 1 since Gabbie was born. I love how ZALORA managed to carry this brand. It’s not as popular as some baby brands are here in the Philippines so I got all giddy learning they’re available in ZALORA! This would be a great tool in helping me take care of my second child once he’s born. I’d like to make an effort in giving him only the best and with the help of this Tommee Tippee breast pump, I think I can handle it. Yes, if you’re following me on Twitter, you’d know by now I had my fair share of sleepless nights the past few weeks mainly because I’ve been wanting to own a nice breast pump (call me shallow but that’s a major leap from having sleepless nights wanting a designer bag or shoes!)
As for the (soon) new addition to our family, Dragon baby boy Go would love to use Tommee Tippee bottles just the same as how her Achie Gabbie loves using them (she still drinks milk on her Tommee Tippee bottles) I love that TT bottles mimic the breast, so there’s no nipple confusion when breastfeeding directly and through bottle (I can attest to this during the time I was breastfeeding Gabbie). Of course I only want what’s best for my baby and Tommee Tippee Closer To Nature products sure do want the same for their customers.
Can you believe it? If my 21 year old self can see this list, she’d definitely freak out at the thought that I’m thinking about others other than myself. If my mother and sisters could read this (which I know they will) I bet they’d be proud of me for becoming a nurturing person!
To be honest I actually like the nurturing me. I love buying things for my family as much as I love buying things for myself. No, it’s not self-pity nor guilt that’s driving me to do these things, it just happens to be. The feeling I feel whenever I hold in my arms a lovely pair of shoes or the smell of a leather handbag is just the same as hunting down store after store for a good pair of skid-free shoes for my daughter or finding the perfect fit of jeans even if it means bringing along with me my husbands’s old pair. The payoff: seeing the smile on their face and knowing that despite having to follow a budget, comfort and look of my family is never compromised.
After all, a happy wife makes up for a happy life. I also would like to believe that a happy family makes up for a happy mom.
Dear wish granting fairies,
