My second born and mama’s boy is turning five this year (1,2,3,4 hi 5!) and I no longer have a baby. Hahahuhu. Thinking about how everything happens so quickly (the days are long but the years are short, as they say) I couldn’t help but feel nostalgic. I kinda miss having a baby at home but I think I’m okay with having two kids. Quota na guuuuys heehee.
Anyhow, sharing some photos of my lil’ guy from a few weeks ago when he candidly agreed I take his photos just because he’s in a good mood. I call him my trooper because he’s a bit of a fan of Star Wars and also last year he was diagnosed with IgAN.
IgAN is a disease in which a protein circulating in the blood (called igA) clumps in the kidney. Deposits of IgA in the kidney’s filters (glomeruli) cause the symptoms of IgA nephropathy which include inflammation and scarring within the kidney. Over time this can lead to loss of function and ultimately kidney failure. source
We notice whenever he gets bouts of vomitting or diarrhea (viral infection in his digestive system) there’s blood in his pee (which a symptom of IgAN) the first two times this happened, we just thought it was UTI. But we notice nga every time he gets viral infection this happens. So we went to see a nephrologist and she confirmed that my baby has IgAN.
We really couldn’t do anything except lessen his protein intake (sorry Juro but you cannot take protein supplements when you’re older) and pray that he outgrows it. I’m amazed at how this little guy manages his illness. Just last week he had another episode of vomitting and diarrhea & his pee had blood again. Every time he goes to the bathroom and sees his pee, he would initiate rest and hydrate. He is a brave boy & I don’t think he got that from me. Hahaha.
We take it day by day and just hope he gets better when he’s older.

I know we’ll go through a few more challenges especially when it comes to the health of this lil’ one so I’m trying to be brave for him. I guess I shared it here on the blog as my way of gathering strength to get through this. Health is wealth guuuuys. Never take it for granted! 🙂
