I’ve been frequenting stores that offer houseware products lately so I guess I’m officially domesticated. Hooray! As much as I wanted to hoard every container, plate and utensil I can find, I managed not to and just purchsed only what I needed.
Japanese store Daiso’s mission is to help customers “Find Surprises and Fun” which I think suits well with the products that they offer. I always find something surprisingly usable and quirky every time I head out to one of their stores.
““Wow, can I really buy all these things for such a low price?!” Customers enjoy looking here and there for special products. Providing quality, variety and uniqueness. This is what we do at Daiso. We create stores that help our customers “find surprises and fun” in a way that is unrivalled.
We have an independently developed and wide-ranging product lineup; high-quality products that are recognized not only in Japan, but all around the world; and low prices that are made possible by our large network of stores. All these elements have all been crucial for creating stores where our customers can find surprises and fun. The result is the Daiso Way that we have cultivated over the years.
Daiso is a place where customers can obtain a new kind of value that cannot be compared to existing one-dollar stores. We provide delight and surprise to our customers around the world by providing this new, unique value, and by using an advanced system that cannot be delivered by anyone else. This is the reason for Daiso’s existence.”
I always go to the stationary/craft area of Daiso but now that I’m really into this whole domestication thing, my first stop would always be their household/kitchen section.
So here’s what I bought:
Plastic and teflon coated cooking utensils are the easiest to clean and use. They need not much scrubbing when cleaning as food doesn’t stick much as compared to aluminum/stainless one but be aware not to leave these utensils on the pan or pot while cooking, they might just burn and melt.
Whether you’re frying or boiling, this tong with built-in strainer is just perfect to drain your meat and vegetables. I actually am fond of using this especially when I’m deep frying or steaming anything that’s soft and tender that may fall apart when drained such as tofu and fish fillet.
This is the secret in making any kind of meat tender, thus its name. I learned this from my mom who uses this hammer-looking apparatus in making steak meat tender no matter how thick it is just hammer away up until the meat is beaten up nicely. LOL
And because my husband is a dimsum addict, it is just right that we got this natural bamboo dimsum container that can actually be used for steaming.
It is really overwhelming every time I go to such a store like Daiso. There really is something you can find and sometimes a product can even surprise you with its features & cuteness.
Check out DAISO JAPAN‘s website for their wide variety of products.
That’s all!
I’m excited for the long weekend here in the Philippines! Excited for Gabbie’s Trick or Treat too, can’t wait to share it with you all!
Happy Long Weekend!
