Murano glass jewelry is something I’ve been wanting to own for the longest time but haven’t really gotten around buying one because I’m not really sure if those available here are authentic murano made in Italy. Luckily, I discovered Miss Chic through my cousin. Chiqui, the woman behind Miss Chic fell in love with murano glass particularly with Millefiori, a glassware technique which uses distinctive decorative patterns on glassware. After years of being in love with Millefiori & murano glasses, Chiqui decided it’s time to bring Millefiori to Manila thus, Miss Chic was created July this year to carry unique and exclusive pieces.

Miss Chic is here to bring only exclusive and one of a kind pieces. The promise that all of the items posted on their website will always be unique, beautiful and authentic.

They also aim to inspire and love others and two of their collections are in support for breast cancer awareness & HIV awareness. Both advocacies are close to Chiqui, as she’s in a family who had battled and have battled cancer. Hopefully later on, patients with these illnesses can get support from the profits earned through these collections.

Millefiori, which is the murano style Miss Chic carries, is one of the most recognisable pieces of Murano jewelry. It is also the most difficult to imitate or copy as Murano glass is created only in the island of Murano in Northern Italy. It is made of silica, lime, soda, and potassium heated and melted together until it reaches a liquid state. Once cooled and formed into murrine glass canes, the canes are then heated again in a furnace and then pulled until very thin, then shaped into discs. This complex process is what creates the lovely patterns in each Millefiori pendant. True to its name, Millefiori means “a thousand flowers”, which is really what you see in each Millefiori piece. And because these pendants are all handmade, no two pieces are exactly the same and each design of the Millefiori on Miss Chic is limited in stock.
