Over the weekend, the GJGs went on a lovely staycation at Makati Shangri-La. We love doing staycations because it’s a breath of fresh air from our usual & daily routine. It’s the lil’ GJGs who are really looking forward to doing staycations. My lil’ Ms. GJG even has her opinion of the hotel we stay in. Usually, she would quip about how nice the pool is or how pretty the room is. Next thing I know, she’ll be in charge of doing accommodations review here on the blog. For now, let me share with you all what went down during our weekend stay.
This greeted us upon entering our spacious Deluxe room. The staff of Makati Shang gave us a feel of their Easter celebration. Thank you so much Jean, Patti, Mica, Chrystel and the rest of the Makati Shang team for the handwritten note. 🙂
Weekend luggage. Loving my luggage cover from Wanderskye. You can order yours on their website at www.wanderskye.com.
There’s really something about hotels that makes staying in with your family more enjoyable no? The comfy bed, the clutter-free space and of course the overall experience.
See the smile on this lil’ guy’s face? Somebody’s excited to use it.
Looking at the city 28 floors up.
Love the tea presentation!
We also got a basket full of Easter goodies. Aaaaah, CHOCOLATE bunnies make me happy!
As if that wasn’t enough, we also got this lovely personalized cake.
It’s really the added effort that makes one feel special. Thank you Makati Shang for this Rafa the Rabbit cake.
Shortly after we settled in, the lil’ GJGs didn’t waste time & immediately went to swim.
The lil’ GJGs favorite part of staycationing is enjoying the hotel’s pool.
A whole afternoon of swimming and the kids were knocked out. Come morning and my lil’ GJGs were ready to seize the day.
First, buffet breakfast! This is the thing I look forward to whenever we do staycations. Given I’m the chef at home, part of homemaking always includes preparing food for my family & when I’m on vacation mode, I really prefer buffet breakfast.
Circles Event Cafe serves buffet breakfast.
Of course the first thing I went for was the pastries.
Cereal station for the lil’ GJGs.
I love healthy options. Perfect for people who are conscious with what they eat. They get to indulge and still have a dose of healthy food.

And we’re back in the pool!
I had to lounge for a while since I ate a lot for breakfast.
While the lil’ GJGs went ahead and swim.
My water babies couldn’t get enough that they continued their swim in the tub.
Our final indulgence for the weekend staycation was at Sage Bespoke Grill.
Located at the second floor of Makati Shang, this restaurant brings a new dining concept that showcases premium superior steaks, seafood and best selling comfort food in a more relaxed setting. More than the traditional grilled meat and seafood specialities, Sage Bespoke Grill offer food cooked in Josper Grill, which combines a grill and an oven in a single machine. One’s chosen dish can be grilled to perfection at Sage without the risk of overcooking.
Seafood. I’m pretty much on seafood diet. I see food and eat it! Heehee.
I was thrilled to know that Sage Bespoke Grill offers healthy dishes. My particular favourites were this Quinoa dish and the Barley dish. I’m glad that I got to indulge with these healthy alternatives.
A bit disappointed with the steak as it wasn’t as tender as I hoped it to be.
Aside from the spreads I took photos of, Sage Bespoke Grill’s Sunday Brunch Buffet includes this menu of pasta and meat.
Arrabiata with Penne and Homemade Gnocchi. The penne was spicy and was okay but the gnocchi? It was delicious!
The burger lover me couldn’t resist even though I was still full from breakfast. I knew I had to order the Wagyu Burger. Thank God it wasn’t a huge serving, else I would have to forego of dessert. As a burger lover, I give Sage Bespoke Grill’s Wagyu Burger a thumbs up. I can clearly taste the juicy & milky meat flavor that was just seasoned with salt & pepper.

I was beyond full but I couldn’t skip on dessert. Especially with a spread like this.
Thank you so much Makati Shang for the wonderful weekend! We really enjoyed ourselves. So much so that we’ll be back come Easter!
Speaking of Easter, Makati Shangri-La has great Easter offerings for everyone.
