There’s a new mall in town, Robinsons Magnolia! Located conveniently in Quezon City, this newest lifestyle establishment has been the talk of people I follow on Twitter. We Pinoys love going to malls and has become part of our lifestyle that’s why a lot of people have frequented this place even if most of the shops are still closed.
And because its within our area I am one of the many who were curious to check out the new place, although this is my second time to go here. Robinsons Magnolia will be an addition to our list of favorite malls.
If you’re all wondering why this Robinsons Mall was named as Magnolia it is because the place was known as the Magnolia Ice Cream House, a huge area where the famous brand of ice cream was housed and where you can purchase their signature and famous ice cream delights. I remember attending a birthday party back here when I was a kid, they had function rooms where you can well enjoy and eat as many ice creams as you want!
So when I found out that they did put up a small cafe in honor of Magnolia Ice Cream House, I didn’t let the opportunity pass and tried it out. It was after all been more than a decade or so since I last tasted their signature ice cream (the ice cream pops like Bert & Ernie, the sailboat and the clown some of which I remember).
Noticed there’s still no light on their signage, as most shops on the mall were still on soft opening or maybe something went wrong with their wiring? We saw the Magnolia Flavor House over at the second floor veranda after having a dinner at Ramen Bar, we were figuring out what it was since their signage had no light so we went down to check it out instead.
The place was packed when we arrived. Also their glass front door was missing when we got there (maybe it shattered?) so the aircon wasn’t really cooling the place so it was a bit uncomfortable dining.
Since it was on a soft opening, service was a bit unorganized but that shouldn’t be the case.
We were looking for more variants of ice cream so we got a bit disappointed upon checking their menu. Although it looks like their Angus Burger is one of their specialties since I saw a a few plates of it that night. Maybe we’ll go back here next time to try their dishes.
Their ice cream station, a cold stone where they mix & match ice cream flavors.
Here’s our classic sundae. Sad that it arrived semi-melted 🙁
I hope their service and menu would improve soon. Being the dessert junkie that I am, I was very disappointed with their selection of ice cream. I was expecting the whole caboodle of ice cream in all sorts of flavors and concoction just like in their good ol’ days.
