A perfect pink lipstick is a bit hard to find, mainly because there are too many good ones. Though there are tons available in the market, finding the one that suits you most can be a challenge. You have to go through a few first & I tell ya, I’ve gone through more than a few. Even though I’ve swatched it at the makeup counter or the artist gladly applied it on my lips, at the end of the day I come home with another pink shade and still want one or two more tubes that’s one shade more or less different than the one I got. Heeheehuhuhuhu.
If you know what I mean ladies, raise you kili-kili! We’re all in this together. Char! 😉 TBH (yes, lakas maka-millenial!) there’s just too much pinks in the world that sometimes, we need a handful of them. Thankfully, L’Oreal understands this thus, they launched their La Vie En Rose collection. La Vie En Rose is French for ‘life in pink’. It’s a selection of pink lipsticks suitable for different skin tones.
La Vie En Rose collection comes in 7 pink shades which are inspired by celebrity icons.
Gradient of pink! Though I find that it’s pigmentation is good, the lighter shades such as Jasmine tend to blend with my skin tone. So I did two swipes each shade to para mas pak, ganern. 😀
The thing about lipsticks is that it’s not enough that you try it on your arm. You have to try it on your lips to see how it would really look on you, given that the shade of your lips is different from your arm–such an obvious reason that sometimes we tend to forget. Kaya naman umeffort ako to swipe, remove and apply the 7 lipsticks of La Vie En Rose.
Here’s how each shade looks on me.
Jasmine (Naomi Watts) is nude beige pink.
I like to wear this whenever I have full eye makeup on to balance my look.
Primrose (Blake Lively) is a midtone powder pink.
This works for everyday use. The subtle pink gives just the right color to your lips.
Camelia (Doutzen Kroes) is a berry blue-based pink shade.
If you want a pop of pink, then Camelia is the shade for you.
Iris (Aishawarya) is baby pink with hint of coral.
I find this shade refreshing. I believe this would work on most skin tone.
Fuchsia (Liya Kebede) is a berry hot pink shade.
I expected Fuchsia to look more neon on me but it looked more reddish pink–though for others, it’s literally fuchsia. Another proof that lipstick payoff differs from one person to another.
Rose Lotus (J.Lo) is raspberry violet pink.
It gives a vampy vixen look ‘coz its a darker shade of pink. Though this looks good at night, one can also wear it during daytime for that subtle yet fierce look.
Nymphea (Eva Longoria) is a rosy pink.
This shade gives that natural pinkish lips. This was the shade Solenn Heussaff wore on her wedding day. I guess it’s one of the reasons why its a favorite! I also think this is the most universal shade of the bunch. Lakas maka-fresh!
Took a few more shots wearing Rose Lotus because I was surprised how it looks good on me (not a fan of dark pink/red lips kasi). Now if only I can dance like J.Lo when I wear it. Heeheehee.
My top three shades are Nymphea, Iris and Jasmine. But Rose Lotus has a special place in my heart because it’s a dark shade that I can wear during day time as well.
Love how L’Oreal came up with this collection. Though I gotta put it out here, the preview of each tube is far from the actual shade of each lipstick. I wish L’Oreal would change it ‘coz it’s really different from the actual lipstick. Other than this L’Oreal La Vie En Rose is a pink collection worth a try.
L’Oreal La Vie En Rose is at Php 400 a tube and is available at leading department stores nationwide.

Really beautiful shades, I liked almost all of them but I think Nymphea would look the best on me even though I’ m much paler than Ms. Longoria 😉
