Europe’s iconic home design brand, Habitat, has finally opened its first showroom in Manila and I was lucky enough to tour the entire floor one fine afternoon. There’s really something about furniture stores that excite me! Makes me want to move to a new house or at the very least, renovate our home. Heehee.
Founded in London by the visionary designer Sir Terence Conran, Habitat has been setting the standard for practical, affordable, yet exquisitely-designed furniture and home accessories in Europe for over 50 years. With its headquarters and design studio now based in Paris, France, the brand has recently marked new milestones with franchises opened in multiple Asian cities.
Last October 16, 2015, Habitat Manila opened its 1,500-suqare-meter showroom to shoppers in Bonifacio Global City. Designers, clients and business partners were treated to an exclusive preview of the stores’ vast range of signature products and pieces from its Autumn-Winter 2015 collection.
Exclusive European-made furniture and decor created from Habitat’s own Design Studio take the spotlight. I’ve got my eyes on these matchy-matchy vanity and chest drawer. I even told Romain Seiler of Habitat Design International, how great it is that Habitat carries small furnitures that would greatly fit the lovely homes of condo-dwellers here in Manila. Aminin, mahirap maghanap ng furnitures that aren’t too bulky di ba?!
Also eyeing on that bookshelf with ladder and that bar cart! Unfortunately, it’s a stationary one as the wheel is just for aesthetic purpose. Pero still, bet ko pa din sya!
“The useful can be beautiful, the beautiful affordable.”- Terrence Conran. I couldn’t agree more!
Peg ko to for our dinning area. Pero dapat kasama ang full length glass wall for the overall effect. Hihihi.
They’ve got foldable tables made of oak wood! Lavett!
Among the featured products in the showroom include furniture by the legendary architect Robert Mallet-Stevens, kitchenware designed by Michelin-starred chef Thierry Marx, and other collaborations with some of Europe’s biggest design stars.
You can easily customise a lamp based on your preference. Choose the right shade and stand for that unique touch. Spot one of Habitat’s iconic pieces, the ribbon lamp. It comes in black and in white too!
The children’s section is limited to sheets and few accessories that can help spruce up your lil’ one’s room.
If my kids were with me I’m sure they’d beg me for this wooden kitchen set!
Bath accessories such as towels and mats come in different colors to match the look of one’s bathroom. I am particularly loving the snap on leather laundry bin! Such a nice piece it is! I would’ve taken one home, only our bathroom has no more space for it.
Habitat also has outdoor pieces for one’s lawn or backyard.
“We feel that the brand is perfect for people who, like us, admire the casual chic lifestyles of Paris, London, Madrid, and other modern European cities”, says Walter Lim, Habitat Manila Director.
Habitat Manila and Abenson Ventures Inc. Director, Walter Lim and Habitat Design International and General Manager of China, Romain Seiler goofing around one of Habitat’s chic pieces, the classic trash bin. This has got Oscar the Grouch’s approval, I’m sure of it!
Congratulations Habitat and welcome to Manila!
