Bath To Basics: Love Your Body

 If you’ve read my two previous posts about Watsons, (Hair Affair and Switch & Save) you’d know by now how much I’ve raved about my best finds in the store. This time, I was invited by Watsons to their Bath to Basics sparty where I was part of a handful of bloggers who got to enjoy some pamper time while learning about how we can love our body even more.

The pamper session happened last July 10, 2014 at Ki Neo Day Spa in Taguig City. It was a relaxing afternoon that gave importance to loving one’s body and having a bathroom (not just beauty) regimen.

Watsons’ Bath to Basics campaign aims to educate the importance of maintaining or boosting one’s bathing habits to achieve better health and skin. It’s also a chance for people to learn more about the different body care products that can complete one’s bath regimen.

Remember, you need not to splurge in order to create and maintain your ideal bathroom regimen.

We all have different bathing rituals, while most of us prefer showering more than bathing, we all basically do the same thing the moment we have the bathroom all to ourselves. We brush our teeth, take a shower and groom ourselves before dressing up and going out.

Some like adding extra grooming habits like body scrubbing and dry massaging. Some also like to indulge on hair, hand or foot treatments, while others like to focus on their oral hygiene. While these added procedures may seem irrelevant for most, still it is advisable that we tailor our bathroom rituals based on our necessity. Whatever we do in between and during these segments greatly define how we take care of ourselves and our body. Of course each one has a preferred bathroom ritual and that’s perfectly fine.

In line with this, Watsons invited Ms. Olen Lim, a certified image, civility, etiquette and protocol consultant who talked about how grooming is an essential part of our daily routine which greatly affects our self-esteem.

It all starts in the bathroom. The moment we enter to relieve and refresh ourselves early in the morning affects our mood the whole day. While we go about our bathroom rituals, we must also remember that an orderly bathroom is essential to have a good personal hygiene. If you don’t know where to begin organizing your toiletries, adopt the toss & keep system. Don’t second guess yourself when you organize your toiletries. Quickly think whether or not you’re using the products in your bathroom. If for a second you have doubted yourself whether you’ll toss or keep, I say let it go. Toss it out or give it to someone else who you think can use it.

Arrange your toiletries according to your daily needs. Those you use every single day must be in the front line such as deodorant, lotion, essential make up and perfumes. Classify your bath products and toiletries according to degree of frequency of use, so it’s easy to locate which is where especially if you’re in a hurry to prepare for a busy day.

Speaking of busy days, we all have one. So it’s always best to have a go-to regimen. Squeeze in your must-do bathroom system for 10-15 minutes so you can still do them everyday. Choose at least 3 of the must-do regimen that you cannot not do even when you’re rushing to go out.

Take your “me time” in the bathroom seriously. Do you believe that some great ideas come when one is in the shower? I do. The moment when we just relax and enjoy a few minutes of alone time in the shower, we put ourselves in a spot where we let go and surrender to the chaos everyday life brings. That moment of tranquility and clarity immediately gives us enough energy precisely when we step out of the shower because we’ve been recharged and refuelled.

I personally love taking long showers because its such a sacred time for me. It is an opportunity for me to slowly process everything I need to do for the day. I also take it as my cue to just let go and appreciate the little things that I should be grateful for. A few minutes under warm water, I am more relaxed, more delighted & ready to accept the challenge a busy has for me.

After the informative talk about grooming and personal hygiene, we went about and did the first activity to kick off our pamper session. Rowena of Animetric’s World & I went on a shopping spree at Watsons, which is just right across Ki Neo Day Spa.

Medyo serious talaga ako whenever I’m in Watsons. Every aisle must be crucially inspected for the latest products at bargain prices!

Happiness is shopping and getting more than what you bargained for!

Here’s our photo after we finished shopping for 20 minutes at Watsons! Can you see how obviously happy we were? After our fun shopping spree, we proceeded to indulge in a quick shower where we got to use some Watsons label products.

The bathroom was filled with Watsons bath products, ranging from hand soap, shampoo, body wash, even body scrubs and loofahs. It infused the room with enticing scents that had hightened the relaxing mood even more.

One of my most favorite bathroom rituals is indulging to a good body scrub. Body scrubbing is said to believe as an oriental beauty and health ritual. It unclogs pores, exfoliates the skin and stimulates blood circulation. Overall, I like it because it just feels so good!

So I treated myself with Watson’s Body Scrub in Cocoa Butter. It smells so delightful as it gives a creamy cocoa scent, you’d want to lather it over and over again.I love that it made my skin creamy, smooth and buttery.

After my invigorating shower, Rowena & I had our massage.

We were asked to choose among the body oils from Body Treats and I choose the grape seed oil.

A massage for one hour made me forget about all the things I was rushing to finish- deadlines, chores, and errands. I dozed off in the last few minutes as the masseuse managed to send me into therapeutic coma through Ki Neo Day Spa’s signature swedish massage.  As I gain consciousness, I felt relaxed and equally revitalized.

I believe I can say the same for the other bloggers as we all enjoyed the cocktails and chika, the shopping and of course the pampering we deserve.

As I said, having a bathroom ritual need not to be expensive. Start with what you regularly do and slowly incorporate those you think you’d find joyful and rewarding. Invest in products that would give you the satisfaction of feeling good about yourself when you use them.

For me, my go-to store for all things basic is Watsons for they have it all. Here’s what I got during the shopping spree we did.

Creamy hand soap, treatment shampoo, exfoliating body wash, cotton pads, tissues, baby wipes, and loofahs were some of the personal care items I purchased.
