What’s good about weekends is when it is spent on talking about clothes and having some DIY project. So when these two are combined together in an afternoon of fun with friends at a steady hang out place, go tayo dyan! Everybody, I’d like you to meet Elin.
Elin is a Manila based and Philippine made apparel brand with a collection of timeless and comfortable wardrobe essentials for women.
From the same company that brought you And Apparel, the women behind Elin; Martina and Kathleen were friends since grade school. What started as the need to fill each other’s closets with staple key pieces that they can mix and match eventually turned to be a clothing business which they are very passionate about.
They launched Elin Clothing last Saturday. It was an intimate gathering that was celebrated over some DIY projects and delicious food at Borough restaurant in The Podium.
We all were eyeing on this stripped dress.
Nikki and Marielle of Craft MNL showing us how to DIY on clothes that need revamping.
Kathleen and her DIY top.
Time to test my DIY skill.
Concentrating on doing the loops; over, under.
After a few minutes, surprisingly it was easy to do and I love the result.
Here’s Tin’s creation.
Modeling Tin’s DIY shirt. Nice no?
Next, we learned about how to make this braided bracelet.
It may look hard to create this kind of braiding but it’s actually easy lang. Here’s the accessory Tin & I made. You can make it into a keychain, a bracelet, a necklace, even a bag holder too! So if you have scrap cloths (which I want to have right now) don’t throw them just yet, they can be made into something like the accessories we made. I’ve learned from Alyanna Martinez as I posted this photo on my Instagram that Prada recently launched this braided accessory and it’s super expensive. O ha, I told her I can make her one, yun nga lang hindi Prada, it’s a Nada! 😉
We capped off the afternoon with Borough’s famous and delicious Milk & Cookies. Noms.
Chesca, Fleur, Martine, Kathleen, Marielle, Tin, Michelle and I.
Here’s two of the lovely clothes I like from Elin.
I’m looking forward to the rest of the pieces you’ll be launching on your online site soon. I can so see myself wearing these two.
Thank you Elin & Craft MNL for the wonderful afternoon. I definitely learned a lot. Excited to create more DIY clothes. So much so that I wanted to cut most of my shirts. Heehee.
Thank you also Michelle of My Mom Friday for sharing some of your photos!
