Spent the morning of last Sunday learning to make dolls with lil’ Ms. GJG. Mommy Mundo together with Craft MNL invited us for a fun morning of mommy-daughter bonding.
It’s like Home Economics class once again! DIY/Handmade items have a special place in my heart. I may not often practice the craft because I couldn’t find time to but if there’s a chance such as this, I take it!
We were to create our own Mommy and Baby Waldorf-inspired dolls by DollDalita.
The DollDalita dolls are so cute. Lil’ Ms. GJG wants the mermaid!
Our mentor and maker of DollDalita dolls Mommy Jac of www.imhandmade.com.
Look! We were able to complete the head of our doll!
While I sew the head, lil’ Ms. GJG prepares the arms. I call her Gabbie Mc Stuffins heehee.
It’s starting to take form, see the head, bust and arms.
Attaching the head to the body. Pardon my sewing skills, I wasn’t OC while doing it, I kept on sewing away because my helpful but impatient partner named Gabbie already wanted to play with our doll.
Berry & Gabbie all smiles during the Doll Making Class.
Group photo. We love handmade 🙂
After three hours of class, a few needle pricks and a whole lot of patience. Here’s Gabbie with our handmade doll. I think we want to name her Lily. 🙂
Doing a craft class is a sure way to bond and spend quality time with your child. Learning the art of doll making has actually taught me the value of hard work and to exert patience. It’s not convenient as most would just prefer to buy ready made dolls but what I’ve picked up from this activity is that anything hand made no matter how imperfect the result will always be filled with love. Hand mades are love! The time and effort put into sewing, stuffing and seeing the doll take form with my daughter is priceless.
Thank you Mommy Mundo for inviting the SoMoms to this fun-filled event! Looking forward to more crafty activities with my kids. Thank you Mommy Jac and Craft MNL for making this event possible!
What’s your favorite activity with you kids? 🙂
Happy Weekend!
