Remember my post about  Go! Jackie Go As Part Of Hunt’s Mom-Child Cook-Of At Yummy Eats 2012? Well that faithful day of cooking in front of a crowd happened last Saturday.
I was with my hubby and daughter Gabbie along with my mom & sister-in-law. While I was staying at the holding area waiting to be briefed, my family was busy visiting the fifty food concessionaires. Luckily, my husband was able to take photos of the food stalls before our cook-off segment happened.

We were actually given 15 minutes head start to get familiar with our cooking station even before we were introduced and called up on stage. Remember the challenge was to create three family-style dishes within an hour.
Let the cook-off begin!
So after an hour of cooking, here’s what I prepared.
I shall soon share with you all the recipes I made. Not to worry, they’re all easy peasy to do not to mention a little under 20 minutes each! 😀

So after a few minutes of waiting they announced the winners. I was totally rooting myself for 3rd place since I’m no “cook” and have never cooked for anyone else except my family! So I was shocked when I wasn’t called first but instead I was called last, that means…
I up to this very day still can’t believe Gabbie and I won! Maybe it was the pregnancy luck or Gabbie being all cute and charming but hey, the criteria for judging greatly involves the taste of food so I guess they like the dishes I prepared.
Gabbie doesn’t want to let go of her plaque. She kept on holding it even after the event ended.
I remember the husband jokingly mocking me about my cooking. Although he finds the dishes I prepared gourmet-ish and yummy, still he thinks I couldn’t finish the three dishes in an hour, given I was pregnant (I get exhausted easily) and my lil’ sous chef could only help in her own little way. Nonetheless, I felt that he was very proud of me & Gabbie. So lucky that I have a very supportive husband and for that he treated the entire family and me dinner! :p
Again thank you Yummy team and Hunt’s for giving me an opportunity to be part of this lovely event. I am now more challenged and driven to prepare meals for my family, it definitely gave me a lot more confidence to not be afraid to experiment and try something new. Such a humbling experience indeed! 🙂
Here’s a video of Yummy Eats 2012 that I got at Yummy’s site, spot Gabbie, my husband and I in the video. Photos in this post that doesn’t have watermark are from Hunt’s Facebook page.
