Blogging has opened a lot of opportunities for me in meeting wonderful people and participating in such wonderful events. Luckily, I was part of Shell’s FuelSave Mommy Bloggers Savings Challenge that happened last May 16.
Shell recently launched Target One Million, a Shell FuelSave campaign to help one million motorists across the globe to learn how to save fuel. During the campaign, Shell will release a series of interactive, online mini-games to equip drivers with the skills they need to help save fuel and in doing so, cut down their fuel costs. Just register for free at www.shell.com.ph/targetonemillion it is open to anyone who wants to play and become ‘one in a million’. Games can be shared with family and friends across social media platforms, including Facebook. Cool!
Target One Million represents the latest step in Shell’s ongoing efforts to provide smarter, more efficient products like Shell FuelSave Unleaded and Shell FuelSave Diesel, and promote smarter energy use amongst the world’s motorists.
In line with Shell’s FuelSave campaign Target One Million, Shell invited 8 mommy bloggers to participate in a driving challenge.
We actually had no idea what we’re gonna do except that we know we’ll be driving around the Metro in a Ford Fiesta fueled by Shell FuelSave, that itself was a clincher for me to say yes! We were briefed that morning what the challenge & task were, it was a lovely surprise! 🙂
The task is to prepare for a birthday party good for 10 kids aged 8 years-old with items that include party favors, food, decorations and of course a birthday cake. Party theme and gender of the “celebrant” would depend on us the mommies, as long as budget of P3,000 fits. Items must be bought in any of the three pre-identified areas namely: Bonifacio High Street, Rockwell and Greenbelt.
Upon arriving at each location, participants must take a photo and upload it via Twitter using the #ShellFuelSave hashtag. Last stop of the driving challenge must be at the Shell Fort station to gas-up and return to the starting point at UCC Burgos Circle for presentation to the judges.
Note that we have to finish the challenge in two hours! Okay, that indeed was a challenge for us since I’m pregnant and even though I want to run like the wind I could only brisk walk :p So while we were given fifteen minutes to prep ourselves, my partner Kris & I started mapping out our routes and the things we ought to buy.
Look at how gwapo (handsome) our Ford Fiesta is!
Let the challenge begin!

Our party is for a 8 year old girl that loves arts & crafts. To utilize and maximize our party supply, we opted for things that serve dual purpose. Cupcake making as one of the party games which is also a giveaway, balloons, loot bags that the guests can personalize by coloring and doodling on, and excess paper plates and brown paper bag that they can create their works of art in.
and the winning team is…
Team A! Wooot we won! 🙂
We have the less fuel consumed mainly because we avoided traffic and eased up on breaking and idling in the parking lot.
