Look what I got last night, it had me at the bag’s color. Green is in!
Thank you Helen See of Hatch and Latch for this generous gift. Now let’s take a look at what’s inside the bag.
Oh it’s Belly Buds & Maternalove convertible dress!
You know how most pregnant women & nursing moms have difficulty finding a suitable & of course stylish maternity & nursing wear? Well here’s the solution. Maternalove is a Singapore-based nursing wear label which designs stylish, chic, trendy, contemporary and quality breastfeeding clothes for nursing mothers.
As you all know, I love dressing up and bargains for clothes especially pieces that I can wear & style differently has always been my weakness. Inifinity dresses & multiway blouses have always been one of the greatest fashion invention, making it easier for the conservative and the tight-budgeted women to broaden their style & expand their wardrobe without breaking their wallet & emptying their bank accounts.
This signature convertible dress form Maternalove can be worn in 10 different ways. Yes, 10! And because the material is made from 95% polyester and 5% spandex this is perfect for pregnant women as well. Wooot, I’m very much excited to use it. As you all know I am still wearing my pre-pregnancy clothes but in a few weeks I bet I have to give my belly room to grow & breathe and polyester, spandex & jersey dresses will definitely be my best bet. I can’t wait to show you my outfit posts on how I wear this lovely convertible dress.
I remember my cousin who was pregnant back in 1990. She used to listen to Mozart via her cassette tape player, she’d put the earphones on her belly even though the music minimally plays and only a faint sound was heard. Then my sister who was pregnant back in 2000 played her compact disc player and instead of using earphones, she attached a mini speaker and placed it closely on her womb so that her baby can hear the soothing music playing. When I got pregnant in 2009, I remember my husband hoarding classical music CDs and constantly played it in our entertainment system. I remember memorizing the notes and found myself humming to Beethoven’s Fur Elise. So if I can recall music and how it made me feel, I’m pretty sure Gabbie then felt the same way, she was moving every time she heard music and vibrations mostly when I talk, which I do a lot by the way. I strongly believe that babies in their mommy’s womb can pretty much hear music & sounds.
Now that I’m pregnant with my second child, I guess I don’t have to stick those mini hamburger speakers on my belly, thanks to Belly Buds.
Aside from conveniently letting your baby listen to music, it can also play voices of family members to the womb to encourage bonding & voice familiarization, (via Belly Buds’ free voice recording platform, VoiceShare) perfect for spouses who work away from their families. You can also listen simultaneously together with your baby through the included audio splitter plus the sound-dampening covers cancel out ambient audio. What I also like about it is that it’s portable, lightweight and can be discreetly worn under clothing. Belly Buds is also used during 3D/4D ultrasound to help turn a baby “toward camera” (I’m definitely, bringing this on my next ultrasound). It’s also compatible with all common digital music player (iPod, iPad and yes even on my Macbook, I’ve tried) And if you’re wondering if the adhesives are safe, fret not for it’s made of medical grade skin-safe hydrogel adhesive and can be re-applied multiple times (the kit also comes with extra adhesives). Lastly, the speakers have a fixed, safe maximum output decibel level so you need not to worry about adjusting the volume & figuring out if it’s too loud or too quiet for the baby to hear.
