100 Reasons Why I love IKEA

During our Singapore trip last December-January, we were finally able to squeeze in a day visiting IKEA. Don’t take the title too seriously, although I have 100 reasons why I love IKEA, I won’t bore you with all one hundred. Instead, I shall show you what transpired during our visit in one of their stores. I was like a kid in a toy store, literally scouting every aisle and every product that I can possibly buy. Sadly, as much as I wanted to hoard and buy their big furnitures I wasn’t able to so I settled for what we can carry.

Seriously, who doesn’t love IKEA?

A peek from the outside, ooh if only I could take home a dozen of these!

Let me enumerate at least 10 reasons why I love IKEA.

1. A wide selection for the home and for everyone in the family.

2. A section exclusively dedicated to kids.

Just a little over five minutes inside IKEA and Gabbie immediately found herself picking up toys. 😉

3. There is much effort put into the presentation and styling of products, quite enticing I must say.

4. Affordable price. ‘Nuff said.

5. Sleek, unique & quirky designs.

6. Shopping made easy. Pencils, papers and tape measures are readily available to make shopping more convenient.

7. IKEA’s cabinets and modular storage- lovely yet affordable. Definitely a haven for neat-freaks and OC people like me.

8. IKEA’s  display of each part of the house is well-designed and practically thought through, you can actually pull off the actual if not similar look in your own home.

9. Customer service is excellent. Staff were very accommodating and despite dealing with a lot of customers, you can actually feel the sense of order in the store that everyone happily follows.

10. IKEA’s effort in helping the environment.

Wrapping items using recycled newspaper is one of the things I like about IKEA. Also, as much as possible they minimize the use of plastic bags. You get charged an additional fee for every plastic bag used.

So after an afternoon strolling around IKEA, I was somewhat satisfied with what we bought, we were eyeing on the shelves & racks but most of them were sold out. We mostly bought kitchen items and those that are easy to pile inside our luggage.

Candle holder,a knife set, pot set of 3, cooking utensils, a stainless container and a napkin holder.

We also bought a pair of lamp shades.

As for Gabbie we got her a set of bibs and finger puppets.

And because we love red…

We got a cute red lamp shade, a throw and a door hook that looks like a dog’s behind.

Our best buy would have to be this red area rug, which is perfect for our living room. Here’s a quick look at a portion of our living room.

How I wish we have IKEA here, although there are a few stores who carry IKEA products but the prices have doubled if not tripled so I don’t think it’s worth it. If only someone locally can create furnitures and products that are inspired from IKEA’s design, structure and pricing designing a home would be less of a hassle and friendlier to our pockets! Until then, I guess I’d have to keep on buying IKEA elsewhere.
