I never really understood what “sticky and yucky feeling” down there meant until I underwent puberty. Growing up, I didn’t have any horrible experiences (or maybe I have chosen to do selective memory when it to comes to this?) blossoming into a young lady. Over a period of time, I learned that monthly periods and being active, sweaty and sporty at the same time, isn’t a good combination at all. Eventually, I learned that I was experiencing that “sticky and yucky” feeling down there. Soon, I was introduced to Lactacyd feminine wash by my then OB Gynecologist and it was the first “adult” product I had to use. It kinda felt like a passage to womanhood (especially since I have not owned a personal care product aside from my toothbrush and hair brush then).
Did you know that taking care of your intimate area revolves around having equilibrium and balance? The vagina produces its own natural protective mechanism to shield itself from bad bacteria. It only needs a little effort on our part as it’s easy to take good care of it.
The natural layer of the vagina is acidic in nature. It produces mucus that contains glycogen that serves as nutrients for the good bacteria, lactobacilli. The lactobacilli “eat” the glycogen to produce sugar and acetic acid or milk acid which maintains the acidic environment in the vagina. This promotes growth of lactobacilli, inhibiting growth of harmful bacteria ultimately preventing infection.
Lactic acid is vital in protecting your intimate area. By keeping the pH in the vagina low to maintain acidity, it helps the growth of good bacteria lactobacilli that maintains the cycle in building the vagina’s acidic protective layer. Lactic acid and other natural ingredients can be found in all Lactacyd products.
I still feel kinda nostalgic whenever I use the original variant of Lactacyd feminine wash. I love that they also have feminine wipes which I use whenever I’m out and not in the comforts of my bathroom.
Lactacyd Feminie Wash now comes in a new packaging as the All-Day Care. It is truly exciting that Lactacyd now offers other variants like White Intimate, Revitalize, and Cool and Fresh!
My current favorite is Lactcyd Cool & Fresh. With the coming holiday events and Christmas parties I’ll be attending, access to the bathroom to freshen up the intimate area can be a challenge which can give that sticky and icky feeling. Good thing, Lactacyd Cool & Fresh gives the right amount of cooling sensation that can last for hours. The natural menthol essences make having a period (or not) bearable as it provides a hint of freshness for that minty cool feel. Like Lactacyd’s other variants, it also has a special formulation of milk lactoserum and lactic acid that maintains the pH balance of the vagina.
Wearing too tight pants, skinny jeans or sports clothing, daily use of panty liner, use of synthetic underwear, excessive fragrance (from soap of feminine wash), harsh fabric softer used for underwear, antibiotic treatments, stress or fatigue and inadequate feminine hygiene are some factors that can cause the disruption of the vagina’s pH level. Do visit your OB Gynaecologist for a consult and don’t forget to freshen up with Lactacyd Feminine Wash.
I can only limitedly describe how refreshing Lactacyd’s Cool & Fresh variant is, but I believe Ann Curtis showed us how it feels to be free from that icky & sticky feeling.
