I got to be honest, October went by so fast I barely had time to sit back and relax. Thankfully the last week of the month was purposely dedicated for this. It was afterall our children’s sembreak. While we usually spend it on a vacation as a family. This year Jago decided to spend it in Korea to celebrate our 10th year anniversary. It’s two weeks in advance simply because we can’t travel when the kids have school since I do school pickups. Thankfully my in laws openly welcomed my kids as their borders for a week while my husband & I explore Korea.
RECONNECT
It’s our second time to travel without our kids and though we miss them terribly I think it’s the perfect time for us to do this. We’re too focused with daily life, work & parenting that we’ve forgotten what it was like focusing on each other. I think every married couple should once in a while prioritize each other. To reconnect & get to know each other more. I’ll probably write a post about some of my marriage musings. Meanwhile here’s snippets of our Korea trip. I’ll do a vlog on what we did. No itinerary we just walked around Seoul & ate our way through!
RECHARGE
After our 6 day trip with average of 6-10 degrees (I swear I wasn’t built for the cold weather) we come home, picked up our kids & packed our stuff for a beach getaway.
We love the beach so it was a no brainer that we spend the last remaining days of sembreak swimming, getting a tan & riding a speed boat. So off we went to Panglao in Bohol. We stayed at Eskaya Resort which I booked via Deal Grocer.
We rode Air Asia for going to Tagbilaran (it was our first time to ride the franchise) and I was surprised on how good their service is. For a budget airline I wasnt expecting anything but i certainly have to commend the staff of our flights to and from Tagbilaran. They were all smiles & very attentive to passengers who needed assistance (there was a kid who got dizzy during the flight & they staff managed to make it bearable for him and his parents throughout the rest of the flight).
Looooove our three day stay at the resort. The staff were very efficient & friendly. I love how very warm & welcoming they are. I don’t think I’ve ever encountered such hospitality like this. From the wait staff, to house keeping and even the resort’s guard. It didnt hurt also that each Villa has its own pool & jacuzzi. So much fun that my kids didn’t want to leave.
Sharing some photos during our stay but I’ll also do a quick vlog about it on my YouTube (jusko sana lang I have time to edit the videos I took!
RECONCILE
One of the things I learned in the past two weeks (half of October) is to really live & enjoy life. I know it’s easy to say that life is good if everything is going your way.
Thing is I love going on trips & i always look forward to it because it’s literally a break from daily life. To be in a different place where you don’t have to do what youre used to doing (chores, errands, work, etc.) is really refreshing. But more than anticipating prior to the trip, i also tend to anticiapte the ending of each trip. I knoooow it kinda sometimes sucks out the fun of traveling or vacation but that’s just how I am. I tend to “end” it in my head way before it even starts. ???♀️
But being in two different places in two weeks made me realize that life is all about the ups & downs, the in betweens & the reality of each day. I’ve reconciled with myself that it’s never going to be always perfect, always great. And that I should embrace the worst, the bad & the ugly times just like how I look forward & thank God for the good ones. That no matter how much I wanna try and be positive all the time I shouldn’t be afraid to feel sad sometimes. I’ve finally come at peace with how my life is, how life should be lived and how beautiful it is despite how messy, unpredictable & crazy it can sometimes be.
Weird how it took me a bunch of subway rides in an unfamiliar place, some tanning sessions & hermit crab catching with my kids & two beautiful sunsets in Bohol to realize all this. ?
So that’s that. Back to reality today for me, my family and everyone else. Here’s to making the most of each day, living it with an eager heart and spending it with the people who matter most.
Have a great week ahead everyone and hello November! ?
