I’ve had a nasty allergy attack last Wednesday and the abrupt change in weather made it worse. I feel feverish and just downright weak. The feeling that I just want to stay in bed and do nothing was consuming me the past few days. Unfortunately, as much as I want to do just this, I have mom duties. I have three days left of the week to prepare for my kids’ food, drive them to and from school and do chores. Sadly as much as I want to share more stories here my brain just wouldn’t cooperate, though I did manage to write one blog post, still I felt defeated last week.
It sucks to get sick. To feel weak. And to feel helpless especially if you know you’ve been trying your best to be healthy. But sometimes you just got to admit that there are some things beyond your control– like pollens and other allergens caused about by change in weather and other external factors. Hahahuhu. NKKLK. Ganun talaga life.
My being sick last week only meant one thing: it was a clear sign to rest and to take it easy.
And so that I did. And I did it well over the weekend.
eat, sleep, eat, repeat
The monsoon rain made spending the weekend at home nestled in bed surrounded by some of my favorite comfort food and of course by my favorite people more appealing. Literally just ate & slept. I even took a bath almost midnight na because I took resting seriously. Char. So that’s Saturday.
We start off Sundays like we usually do–attend mass and have lunch. Decided to head to our neighborhood price club to have lunch and do a quick grocery run.
bakit masarap kumain pag umuulan?
A question I ask myself many times over but still I keep on asking. Hahaha. Pizza is always a good idea no? So we stuffed ourselves with it over lunch together with chicken and ice cream. Busog lusog! #thisiswhyiworkout
Quick tip: always be full when doing the grocery so you won’t be buying everything you see just because you’re hungry!
Time to go shopping! Here’s Juro and Gabbie with their favorite aunt, Tita Kim.
And here’s Jago & I seconds before we started with our list. I think we were discussing about our shopping strategy because I’m the kind of customer who goes through aisle after aisle even though I know I don’t need anything in a particular aisle, I still go through it. ???♀️
Some of the interesting grocery items I found: Pop! Sriracha flavor popcorn, avocado oil mayo wasabi, Mentos choco mint, and Combos honey Sriracha flavor. Can you say I like spicy food? ?
After lunch and our grocery run we head back home to rest. Next thing we know it was already time for dinner.
Something about clay pots & dim sums that are comforting no?
I’m not really a fan of Chinese food but ever since I got married, it’s become a part of our lives–I mean we do eat it weekly and now I find eating it on rainy days comforting. Is it just me? ???♀️
My kids being kids. They’re in their drawing/doodling phase where they bring drawing kits with them wherever they go. Cherishing this phase in their lives because who knows until when they’ll enjoy this. Also I’ve taking tons of photos of them just like this because I’ve become that kind of mom. Haha!
I love watching these two do things together
So we went straight home after dinner to prepare for school the next day, only to find out that classes are suspended due to the bad weather. Mixed feelings from these two, they’re sad because they both wanted to go to school since they’ve been studying for their exams, yet they’re also happy that there’s no school because they were able to stay up late on a Sunday night and play a round of video games together. Ang gulo but it’s fun! Hahaha.
Aaaah the love-hate relationship these two have for each other. I truly enjoy this stage in my children’s lives–when they’re independent enough to do things on their own but at the same time they still need me and their dad from time to time. I guess this is also partly the reason why I’m chronicling mundane moments like this for when I grow older and have developed memory loss, I can still look back at these memories.
Okay that last part was the gloomy, rainy weather’s fault! Hahahuhu. Anyhow, that’s it for the weekend, how’d you spent yours?
Here’s to Monday being not so bad and here’s to hoping for a better weather tomorrow. Stay safe and dry everyone!
