March na March na. We can totally feel the summer heat. This week I feel recharged after spending last weekend on a quick break–read about my Guangzhou visit HERE.
The quick vacation left me with a pile of laundry and other chores. I was literally on 3 hours of sleep last Monday but managed to power through. I love a good motivation and I’ve got Diet Diva to thank for that. At least meal prep wasn’t something I had to think about that day. Yay for small wins!
Speaking of meal prep, I just want to share my recent discovery– Hot Dish. A food service that delivers comfort & yummy food straight to your doorstep. Thank goodness for businesses like this because it’s really a life saver for busy moms and moms who want to serve home cooked meal to their family without slaving in the kitchen. Hot Dish dishes reminds me of my mom’s cooking. Their Ox Tripe Kare-Kare is my favorite while the Beef Calderata was my husband’s. Our kids also enjoyed the Cheesy Spaghetti. I’ll definitely order and try their other dishes next time. To order, check out their Instagram page: www.instagram.com/hotdish.ph/
Spent Wednesday watching Captain Marvel. I think the timing is perfect for Women’s Month. How celebrated is this Marvel Superhero and how awesome it is that Captain Marvel is a woman in the movie (because there’s a comics version that the character was a man). Anyhow, the emotionally invested me cried in the movie as usual! Thank you Watsons PH for the opening day dibs!
Wrote something in time for International Women’s Day which I think women should keep in mind. Read all about it HERE. We can be anything we want and yet we still feel the pressure society gives us especially in this day and age where some women choose to go against the path we were “biologically destined for”. You know the milestones we all should achieve at a certain age. I honestly think women are more powerful now because they get to decide who they want to be and what they want to do with their lives-for me this is the simplest way we can celebrate all women.
Spent Thursday afternoon bringing Juro to the eye doctor to have his eyes checked. He sometimes would complain about how bright the lights are even though they aren’t. I suspected he has light sensitivity which is brought about by astigmatism. And I was right. Now my baby boy needs to wear glasses. Unfortunately the notion that astigmatism can be caused by too much screen time or reading a book at night isn’t true. Astigmatism is an irregularity in one’s lens. It’s usually curved which causes one to have blurred vision, headache and even sensitivity to light. I have astigmatism and I wear prescription glasses when I use my laptop to write, when I read a book and even when I drive. This common eye problem can be hereditary and it’s something both my kids got from me. Huhuhuhu.
Post eye checkup treat. My inquisitive boy asked a bunch of questions from his eye doctor. Followed up with a story he learned from school as we were enjoying our snacks. I learned about the story of Jessica Cox, the amazing pilot who uses her feet to fly a plane. Juro was so amazed as he retells her story. My boy finds Jessica strong and amazing. I love how his teacher picked this story to tell his class. Perfect story to be inspired and have that ” no excuses attitude”. I learned something new that day from my 6 year old son. It was a humbling moment for me. And it’s definitely something I’ll remember but just in case I forget, I’m sharing it here. Heehee.
Haaay this boy!
Spent my Saturday supporting my Roomie for her passion project #NTSummerEquinox it’s a series of events where she shares her knowledge when it comes to fitness, nutrition and overall healthy lifestyle. So, so proud of her and what she has achieved! Nikki will always be one of my favourite fitspiration and girl crush!
Capped of the week spending Sunday with my family doing what we normally would –hear mass, lunch out and go malling! Week 10 done!
