Flashback to a few years back when Gabbie was just a four years old.
This little cutie has shown interest in tumbling & doing cartwheel at a young age. I honestly miss her being this small! Now who would have thought after a year she’d pursue something that she really loves?
As some of you know Gabbie trains as a gymnast. She started after a year of doing ballet and wanted to try gymnastics because she finds it more dynamic. As her mom I was very supportive from the get go all because it was something I know she really wants. It started when she watched a YouTube video of a young girl doing gymnastics and since then she has bugged me to bring her to a club so she can try.
I grew up trying different sports but honestly, I didn’t excel in any of it. I didn’t train long enough to pursue one particular sport that I like. So I’m pretty amazed to see how my daughter is really into gymnastics. She says she likes it because it’s fun even though it’s challenging. It makes her strong and it’s something she really looks forward to.
Training is done everyday by different coaches and the gymnasts come from different schools and institutions. At first Gabbie was taken aback by the number of people training simply because she used to belong in a small ballet class. Knowing that she’ll be in a bigger group & training involves whole body workout and going barefoot was one of the challenges she faced when she was starting. She’s the type of kid who doesn’t like being dirty and sweaty (I think she became sort of a germaphobe after our Singapore discovery tour) but since she likes gymnastics so much, she didn’t really mind getting down and dirty, literally.
Two years later and two friendship meets after and she’s still at it. If anything she’s more eager & determined to do better.
All the hours and effort we’ve put into training have paid off. I’ve seen how she’s progressed and is continuing to progress so even though we’ve had our fair share of injuries and missed trainings (mostly my fault because I can’t be in two places at the same time! Hahaha).
Kinda proud of myself too that I’ve managed not to become a stage sports mom (at least not yet? heehee) and let my little gymnast do her thing. I guess giving her the chance to excel in what she likes is one the many ways I show I care of her. But sometimes I can’t help but worry–a condition we moms innately have–knowing she might get injured again, catch germs while training, and get sick & totally miss out training. This is something that I think about once in a while. I know I can’t really protect her 24/7 which is why I’ve learned to let go of these thoughts and instead focus on helping her be the best gymnast that she can be.
So here’s a quick look on how I’m assured my lil’ gymnast is protected everyday especially after her training. Still getting the hang of doing videos but I had fun doing it anyway. Hopefully you enjoy it as such as we did making it!
I used to worry a lot on how I can let go of my kids so they can take a shot in what they want while at the same time protect them. How? I start by making sure they’re germ-free. Health really is my priority especially for my kids. Being germ-free means they’re healthy and it starts by providing my kids the protection they need before they even step foot outside our home. As simple as taking a bath with Safeguard body wash or washing hands with Safeguard soap can help me be worry-free & my kids germ-free. Because there are so many germs lurking around everywhere! They can be found even in the things we use everyday (phone, car keys, bags, etc.). Imagine more the germs my little gymnast encounters every time she trains which is why I’m really glad she started being conscious about cleanliness early on. She really likes bath time particularly after every training simply because she wants to get rid of germs and lathering on Safeguard body wash is something she finds enjoyable. No ordinary soap nor beauty soap comes close when it comes to getting rid of 99.9% of germs other than Safeguard.

I know I can’t really protect my children 24/7 but knowing they start their day by being germ-free is enough reason for me to be worry-free. Thankful that my kids aren’t sickly and are healthy enough to enjoy what they like to do. To more friendship meet, competitions & training Gabbie! Know that we will always be your number one fan.
