COLORS. The only word that comes to mind whenever I hear the brand United Colors Of Benetton. I grew up loving UCB, from apparel to accessories. I used to have a plain white sneakers & white socks embroidered with the UCB logo back when I was in grade school. Shucks lakas maka-Waveback Wednesday! 90s babies would attest to this as I’m sure all trendy girls back then can relate. Uuuy, yung mga nag-react ka-age! 😉
After decades (exaggeeeee naman 2 decades lang naman bilang bagets pa ko!) I am so happy to be up close with one of the brands I really love as United Colors Of Benetton is one of GJG’s blog partners. I was super happy when the brand approached me because I really, really love UCB. I even have a UCB leather belt that’s more than 10 years old!
This partnership paved way for me to be your UCB correspondent. I’m here to give you the latest from the brand that we, (ahem 80s & 90s babies) grew up with.
From the very beginning, United Colors of Benetton has always been the expression of the inclination to fill your wardrobe with bright colours that pep it up with brio and vivacity. The coloured jeggings can be worn with light striped knits, such as nautical inspired ladylike cardigans, where the blue can be replaced with pastel shades, vichy check shirts with a sixties feel, or all-over floral printed blouses.
I’ve always been a fan of basics, so UCB’s Spring 2014 collection really resonates with my personal style. First, classic pieces are always a staple. Second, having color in one’s closet is a MUST as it is in life. And last but not the least, colors make mixing and matching easy.
Summer ba kamo? I’m so eyeing that halter dress on the bottom left. I wannet!
A technicolour world, very pop, that inspires positivity and the love of life, with a dynamic soul that does not try to hide a more romantic side. This is the young United Colours of Benetton woman in all her many facets, who lives intensely but looks to the future with hopes that lots of dreams will come true.
This ensemble is so me! Solid colored dress accentuated with a lovely printed scarf.
Loving all these bright dresses paired with equally chic scarves. Look at how a plain dress gets an instant oomph just by throwing in a scarf. Summer chic in the city ang peg!
Apart from the pop of colors, UCB also has a collection suited for those who love anything neutral, especially black and white.
In the United Colors of Benetton Spring 2014 collection, black and white feature in quality pieces that flirt with classic styles and sophisticated elegance. Women of taste opt for these discreet but never-boring monochrome pieces prefers their clothes to be more understated than flashy.
All the beauty of black paired with white. It never gets old. Just like this black and white dress that exudes sophistication yet one can still easily enhance her personal taste by accessorizing this piece.
Sheer is my thing! Not your typical plain see-through blouse as it has a hint of chic all thanks to the beaded trimmings.
Printed coat to spruce up a shirt and trousers outfit.
Accessories that are muted, neutral and structured are always elegantly classic.
The staple polo shirt gets a dose of charm and femininity with United Colors Of Benetton’s array of neon and pastel colored shirts.
Bet ko talaga yun colored pants! And I also love these candy-colorer pouches.
The UCB men line radiates energetic and vibrant colors that emanates an active yet fun lifestyle.
I seriously want to get these polo shirts in all colors for Mr. GJG.
I like that UCB now has a growing selection of footwear.
Even sparkly, shiny, shimmering splendid shoes!
But what caught my eye was this leather sandals that’s Made in Italy. In my delight that I found the perfect leather strappy sandals, I immediately got this for myself! More footwear please!
More camo! UCB rubber watches in camo print in different colors. Like it plain? They also have!
Now here are some photos during the UCB Spring 2014 launch held last week at their Bonifacio High Street store.
Alyanna Martinez and sea-princess Tessa Prieto-Valdez hosted the event. So apt that they’re the hosts as these two obviously love color!
A mini fashion show was held to showcase the Spring 2014 collection.
Benettons’s spring 2014 is also synonymous with dynamism and movement, and so the new URBAN collection features slim fits that let the body move freely without restriction. Blue and lobster add brightness alongside more restrained shades of black, white and grey for jackets, oversize sweaters and long easy skirts. Delicate roses and flowers bring a touch of femininity to shirts and five-pocket jeans. Edgier slogans emblazon T-shirts and the military-style shirt, while those who want to dare a little more will find the camouflage shorts perfect. The sea comes to the city with maxi bags, easy-fit jackets and knitwear featuring nautical stripes.
Diggin’ this green colored jeans! The wedge sandals is also from UCB!
The spring 2014 URBAN collection is for a man who travels, and one who loves adventure. Colours for these pieces seems to come directly from workwear, which gives an up to date look and cross-over appeal suited also to city dwellers. The main piece is the parka in a camouflage or solid colour military style version, to wear over check shirts & sweatshirts and T-shirts with a worn look. Denim features for shirts, and also for slim, comfort fit and classic five pocket jeans to turn up and expose your footwear with studied nonchalance. Trousers are also cargo in sandy shades. Shades of orange on the knitwear add brightness to the wardrobe.
I love that despite the pops of colors, there’s cohesiveness in each look. Bringing out the modern urbanista without going overboard with the latest trends.
The models wearing UCB Spring 2014 collection. Styled by no less than Alyanna Martinez.
And because Tessa Prieto-Valdez was the host, there were lots of fun and laughter. She dared actor, Paolo Paraiso to show off his abs and in return, he’ll get a free UCB shirt.
In fairness, game naman si Paolo. I captured his medyo hubad moment and posted it on my Instagram which led me to win a UCB watch. Winner!
Kiana Valenciano, Gary V’s daughter was also game and participated in one of the activities during the launch. She was tasked by host Tessa to help this model change into a UCB shirt. Game din si bagets! Lavett!
Photo captured by Tin aka Manila Fashion Observer. Here I am receiving my UCB watch from Rina, the brand manager of UCB, with actors Paolo Paraiso & Bianca King who also won a prize.
Just when the program was about to finish, Allison Harvard dropped by with the intention to shop. Only after realizing that there was an ongoing event did she shyly tried to exit her way out the store. But Tessa Prieto-Valzdez didn’t let her until she was able to take some photos with her.
Finally some #selfie with Alyanna Martinize. Love the styling you did on the models Alyanna!
Apart from winning a watch just because I posted a photo of Paolo Paraiso on Instgram, I, together with my partner in style Tin, also won best style photo. We incorporated UCB items and styled ourselves with what’s suitable to what we were wearing then. Lavett! As the winners, our prize was we get to pick one item from the Spring 2014 collection. I cannot wait to show you what I picked. Let’s abangers my OOTD ha.
Congratulations United Colors Of Benetton on the successful launch of your Spring 2014 collection.
