Years of living an active lifestyle and I have never tried CrossFit ever up until this super momma, Rachel Love opened her own box called TLC. When they invited me to check out their box I was excited to try it. Knowing it is her third baby (next to her twins Avery & Sadie) I knew I was in good hands. TBH, the reason why I’ve been putting off trying Crossfit for so long is because I am simply intimidated by it. I know it can be a very competitive fitness community and knowing I am very competitive against myself, I’m bound to push myself to my limit to the point where I know I may get injured. Which is why it was just fitting that I experience my first CrossFit through TLC Fitness– it literally means The Love Club. Double meaning because Love is Rach & husband Trevor’s surname and it can also mean Tender Loving Care because that’s exactly how I felt when I visited them while they were on soft opening.
What makes TLC Fitness different? They have a process everyone should follow. Not just for Crossfit noobs like me but even seasoned Crossfitters (is this even a term??) need to go through their process just so they can safely progress and enjoy the box. See the photo above to know about their TLC process.
I don’t know if they still offer their opening rates but here’s their regular rates as well.
Such a well lit, clean and organised box!
What I love about TLC Fitness is that there’s a coach to guide you on proper form. You don’t just do the sets AMRAP (as many times as possible) and follow the WOD without supervision. Having the right form and making sure you get enough TLC is something they’re serious about. I have to admit, I don’t like doing HIIT because I don’t like the feeling of catching my breath but I enjoyed our WOD that consisted some of the following sets below.
Row on rings is just warm up guys. ? But since their workout is time based, I admit I was challenged even if I was already doing it for quite some time now.
Aaaah the assault bike. One of the things I rarely do because I literally feel like I’m drowning with too much air in my face. While others love this, I dread this simply because team lamigin! Hahahuhu.
Doing AMRAP is one of my weakness but it’s nice to challenge myself once in a while. If I was a woman of leisure and live in BGC, I’d probably be at TLC Fitness everyday! ? But I promise Rach, I’ll be back so I will!
Thank you so much to the TLC Coaches! Coach Trevor, Rachel and the whole team for being patient with us noobs. I truly enjoyed my first Crossfit workout. No longer intimated by it and I am as a matter of fact looking forward to visiting the TLC box again.
