Why is a blazer an important piece one should have in her closet? It’s because it can put together your outfit, making it seem effortless. No time to pick what to wear? Throw on a blazer. Want to wear something sexy or a bit too revealing but you need to look decent? Throw on a blazer. Whole day errands but have an important meeting in between? Throw on a blazer. Friends drag you on a night out wearing your usual shirt and shorts? Throw on a blazer.
Throw on a blazer and you’ll look polished in an instant.
It’s a fail proof outfit. Whether you’re out for a business meeting or just a leisurely stroll at your favorite mall.
The key is to find the best type of blazer for you. Tapered, tuxedo, tailored, boyfriend, lapel, bomber, fitted, double-breasted, belted and draped are just some of the blazers one must own. Depending on your personal style, one of types of blazers I mentioned would best suit you.
Most of my blazers are tailored and boyfriend types. Tailored or fitted blazers are best paired with anything loose and slouchy as it gives that perfect balance while boyfriend blazers are best worn with anything fitted such as a structured dress or a tank top and denim shorts.
You can also opt to mix prints with bold colors just like what I did.
Don’t be afraid to try and see what works for you. Since I love wearing dresses as much as I love wearing blazers, I figured its best to mix and match them to create different looks.
Now here’s how Kelly wore his blazer.
Love how we both presented a look that anyone can practically wear. From my outfit that’s a mix of texture and colors to Kelly’s monotone approach.
We didn’t really planned what we were going to wear for our style series. We just said we’d be styling ourselves with basic pieces based on our personal style. Turns out, we do have different styles yet it somehow compliments each other.
Again don’t be afraid to TRY. If you feel confident and comfortable in what you’re wearing then most likely that’s what works best for you. For wearing blazers, the rule is as long as it fits perfectly on you, you’re fine! It should not constrict your movement especially when you move your arms. It should perfectly fit across your shoulders and the length of the sleeves should just end above your wrist.
Go casual with sandals, ballet flats and sneakers. Make it classier with pumps, peep toes and stilettos and you can rule the world!
