I have never owned a decent plaid shirt when I was younger. To begin with, button down polo shirts aren’t my thing. I find it too rigid for my style, thinking my personality is constricted as it looks too “uniform” for me. In short, sadyang di lang talaga sya bagay. But then again, when you’re young, everything plain looks boring for you right?
As I got older, I grasp the fact that classic pieces are a MUST in one’s closet. They aren’t called classics for nothing di ba? So when I found the perfect plaid shirt, I went for it. I’m still figuring out how I would wear it other than doting the off-duty look.
Off-duty aka day-off for me! Like what I said before, as much as I want to, I couldn’t seem to put extra effort on planning what to wear during vacations especially when I’m with my kids. I come last when I pack for our family. I make sure I have everything they would need before I pack for myself. Very motherly di ba? So most of what I wear on our family vacations are very laid back & comfy.
So happy this shorts now fits me! I’ve had this pair for almost a decade now. After two pregnancies, I was ready to sell it at Blogger’s United but when I tried it on, it fits me again. Thank you Pilates! 😉
Buwis buhay shot! My photographer Mr. GJG is more creative than I am & insisted we take this shot even though I almost fell. Hahahay.
My default out-of-town outfit is tank top & shorts but sometimes, I find the look too underdressed. So I figured why not try a button down shirt instead? Go for a shirt made from light weight material such as cotton so you can easily wear it over summer or layer it up and wear it on colder days.
Off-duty look won’t be complete without doting a no-make up, hair up look.
No make up? No problem, go for shades.
So the trick to make button down shirts look relaxed on you is to open the collar by unbuttoning the first two buttons. This gives it a laid-back preppy look, totally far from the whole “uniform” stereotype. 😉
Obviously one of my favorite summer pairs. It’s easy, breezy to wear, making my off-duty look chic.
So how else can one wear a button down shirt without looking like a yuppie? I have a few #OOTD in mind and I shall share it on a separate post. 🙂
