This year, I spent Mother’s Day like how I usually do for the past 4 years- I went to church and had lunch with my family. But then there was a bit of a difference as I woke up to a surprise by Mr. GJG.
Mr. GJG doesn’t give much of a big deal when it comes to Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Grandparent’s Day or any other “made up” special occasions because he feel like these dedicated days can be celebrated everyday. Hmmp. Sige na nga! So I was really surprised when he handed me his Mother’s Day gift. I was giddy to see he got me a sculpting band and a love letter (di nga lang hand-written but kebs na) with matching photos of my kids and I.
I was touched because he got me what I needed and wanted and also, the letter showed how much he appreciates my efforts juggling everything for the past years, especially the past 6 months with no helper/yaya. He saw how challenging it is to do what I do.
So come afternoon, we decided to spend the rest of Mother’s Day at Glorietta. While they were going around shopping, I spent a pocket of “me time” and visited the Mom’s Wellness Fair.
The Mom’s Wellness area has different booths that offered activities for all moms. Rags 2 Riches, Cocorose London and VMV Hypoallergenics are some of the brands that were there to pamper moms on our special day.
Moms were treated to a foot spa session.
And a makeover from VMV Hypoallergenics.
There was also a juicing demo for moms who want to start a healthy lifestyle.
As a souvenir, moms also got to have their photo taken with this cute chalk doodle backdrop.

After visiting Mom’s Wellness booth at Glorietta 1, we headed to Glorietta 5 for The Sexy Chef’s cooking demo.
According to the Sexy Chefs, this 1/3 cup serving of brown rice is ideal if you want to cut down on carbs without totally depriving yourself from it.
The first dish they prepared is this Malunggay Shrimp Fried Rice. It was delicious and packed with vegetables.
The second dish they prepared is perfect for those who like eating sandwiches but finds it hard to use healthier spreads. Instead of the classic egg sandwich, they used tofu. Surprisingly, it did taste like egg sandwich. I think kids will love this dish, its healthy and I bet they wouldn’t know they’re actually eating tofu!

Lastly, for those who prefer having noodles instead of rice, you’ll love this Stir Fry Korean Style Noodle dish. Its a mix of vegetables and glass noodles and is under 400 calories!
I want to try and make this stir fry Korean style noodles at home! As my kids are such fans of noodles.
Sisters Barni & Rachel Alejandro, the women behind The Sexy Chef. They have released their book- The Sexy Chef that’s filled with healthy meal recipes, meal packages and diet programs.
Here’s a closer look at the food they prepared.
Huhuhuhu, medyo di ko keri this amount of rice. Or maybe I can if I eat this 6 times a day!

It was a fun way to spend Mother’s Day with some of my fellow SoMoms. What made Mother’s Day even more special was that I got to spend it with these two adorable, little human beings, the reason why I get to celebrate this special day.
The loves of my life. These two make motherhood worthwhile despite the challenges. Thank you lil’ Ms. GJG & Mr. GJG for teaching me how to live and love. I love you both (not just to the moon and back but) from across universe.
Happy Mother’s Day to all moms! Yes, the whole month of May is dedicated to all mommas so babatiin ko pa din kayo! Haha 😉
