Manyika: (noun) means doll in Filipino.
Manyika is a girl’s clothing line designed by 28-year-old entrepreneur Monica Padilla. After studying fashion design in Istituto Marangoni in 2008, she worked as assistant designer to Hindy Tantoco, handling seven brands including women’s, swim and kids wear, eventually rising to lead designer. Among all the lines she worked on, Monica found herself most excited about children’s clothing. “I found it cute and exciting to do something so small, so adorable,” says Monica.
Manyika pieces are cute and modern, yet comfortable which will appeal to both kids and moms alike. Designs are trendy and fashionable which can compete with what is being offered by other brands locally and abroad. Little details from flowers, ruffles to ribbons adorn our designs, which give the clothes that “extra special” something. The assortment of products range, but are not limited to dresses, tops, shorts, skirts, pants, rompers, etc., with designs serving for both casual and dressy occasions.
In terms of silhouettes, with the Manila climate in mind, they are kept light and fresh with flowing pieces, empire cut styles, tank tops and functional shorts. Separates are perfect for mixing and matching and are great pieces to incorporate into your child’s current wardrobe.
The brand prides itself in giving clientele whatever is on trend without splurging too much on price as we realize that kids outgrow their clothes quite quickly. Most pieces are also fitted with adjustable straps, adjustable inner garters for bottoms or garter waistbands so that they can adjust well to growing kids.
From style, comfort, quality and price point, Manyika has got all the bases covered to keep mom happy and to make your little girl twirl around her bedroom in delight.
Thank you Manyika for this lovely knitted cardigan w/ matching headband for my manyika lil’ Ms. GJG.
