As much as I wanted to hoard on make ups I’ve been mature enough not to. The practical frugal me is very pleased while the carefree shopaholic me is passionately mad. I guess given the space in our apartment, I can’t afford to buy things that I want without considering if I really need them. I’ve only liked one particularly limited edition make up and its MAC Cosmetics: Wonder Woman Collection. But since I am still a woman who likes all things pretty, I’d like to share with you all my somewhat collection of lipsticks. Take note that I only limit it to less than 20 tubes so I can alternately use them all within their shelf life.
The title of my post reminds me much of the now defunct US TV series Lipstick Jungle which showcased different facets of a modern woman. Anyway all of my lipsticks are from MAC, I only have around four from other brands that I didn’t include in this post because they’re almost empty.
Books & lipsticks are some of my favorite things.
“If I had to teach someone just one thing about lip color it would be this: Find a lipstick that looks good on your face when you are wearing absolutely no makeup.” — Bobbi Brown, “Beauty”
Wearing the right shade of lipstick can really brighten one’s face. For more information on what lipstick shade suits what skin color read this and this.
Sadly, I’m acidic so lipstick shades tend to be a tad bit darker for me so I didn’t include swatches of each one but instead I’ll just show you the actual shade from the tube. Note that color may vary since photos were taken under natural light.
If there’s a shade I avoid, it would have to be dark colored lipsticks. I find dark browns, dark pinks and plums on the goth side and unflattering on me. They tend to make me look old and untidy but that’s just my opinion. Anything else I’m up for such as nude, bright popping colored lipsticks. My top two favorite lipsticks out of the nine I shared with you all are Morange and Viva Glam Gaga (okay it’s a tie between that and Viva Glam Nicki), they’re both bright and statement colors that can really work well with a bare face.
Here’s a guide on the right lip color for the right skin tone.
It’s just a mere guide as to what shade would look best depending on your skin tone, I say feel free to experiment on different shades you find fancy. As for me, I am still in search for the perfect red lipchook! But I guess I’ll end up buying MAC Ruby Woo. Aaaah I actually still have a few lipsticks on my list that I want to have. Luckily , they’re limited editions and most of them are no longer available here in Manila. Yes, I just said luckily, coz if they were available my practical frugal self would hiss and roll over her eyes as I would hoard them all!
