Rainy days call for some food trip. Actually, whether or not you love to eat, ice cream is always perfect on a rainy day. I think you’d agree with me on this one right? If you follow me on Instagram and Twitter, you know that I’ve been posting more than a few photos of this insanely delicious gelato called Bono.
I’ve first tasted Bono while I was shopping in SM Makati, which is where their very first store is located. You won’t miss it. It sits right after the bridge connecting Glorietta and SM. Plus, the well-lit open store of hot pin and lovely info-graphic are so enticing, it will make you want to see what all the cuteness is all about.
BONO artisanal gelato is all about what is FRESH & NATURAL. We make our gelato fresh daily, in small batches. We use NO ARTIFICIAL ADDITIVES (colors, emulsifiers, flavors) and do not use any ready-made mixes or pastes. We make everything from scratch, the slow-food, whole-food way; the same way the Italian mammas used to do it. We source our flavor ingredients from the where they are in season. You can be assured that the gelato you are enjoying is made from nothing but the best ingredients, with a whole lotta love. We’re KEEPING IT REAL.
My very first scoop of Bono gelato is their Speculoos flavor. It was love at first lick. LOL.
On my next visit, I was with Tin aka Manila Fashion Observer. We were so thrilled to taste their Just For Fun Flavors. Imagine, buttered popcorn, red velvet, glazed donut, s’mores and rootbeer float gelato?! OMG.
They had a promo where you can have three mini-scoops of any of the Just For Fun flavors for only 200 php (that’s around $5). I tried red velvet, rootbeer float and s’mores. My verdict? All were delicious. The red velvet even had chuncks of cream cheese, the s’mores had marshmallow, crunchy crackers and gooey chocolate. And as for the root beer, it tasted like real freaking root beer!
My second visit to Bono validate my love for their gelato. Why? Aside from the three scoops Tin & I had, we ordered a regular scoop of their taho flavor. Yup, it was that good! No exaggeration, it is now my favorite gelato! Wishing that next time, I buy their taho flavor, there will be sago (pearls) to go with it. Heehee.
I am officially a fan of Bono Gelato. So much so, that when I learned they’re opening another branch that is nearer to my place, I was super excited I even tweeted about it.
And when they finally opened last July, I went there with my fellow SoMoms to satisfy our gelato cravings.
Our mission is simple: we will transform & transport you. Transform your palate & transport you to Italy (even with just one spoonful) This is THE REAL SCOOP.
Their Podium store has an open kitchen that let’s you see all the mixing and churning of the gelatos.
Look at how pretty this freshly churned gelato is?
I got their Rogue flavor during their opening at The Podium. It’s a concoction of roasted pecans, homemade toffee in a buttery gelato, topped with a butterscotch sauce spiked with Elijah Craig small-batch Bourbon. It was da bomb!
SoMoms represent! Conci, Tin and I with Bono Gelato’s Rea Gomez-Harrow.
Coffee Honeycomb was my first scoop at Bono’s SM Aura kiosk. Noms.
We are proud to be “Born In Manila, With Italian Soul” as mentioned in the Punto ITALY magazine. We’re sharing some bits of Italian trivia too, just for kicks.
I love that they give bits of trivia every now and then. Though, I obviously don’t believe that owls are bad luck! π
The best trivia from Bono that I love most is this.Β This gives me more reason to love gelato! Yahoooo! π
Pint is at 450 php and tub is at 850 php. You can opt to add 30 php for 6 cups and spoons. Perfect for a gelato partey! π
Bono-fied people like me would be delighted to know that you can get their gelato in pints and tubs! To those who love me, a pint or tub of red velvet, speculoos, s’mores, rogue, or coffee honeycomb will make me very , very happy. Perfect as gift indeed. Ahem, ahem my birthday’s coming up! π
Bono also delivers! Yahoooooooo again! Have your freshly churned gelato delivered to your home or office within two hours of your order. Enjoying my red velvet gelato on a rainy night. π
Bono gelato is by far the best gelato I have tried to date. Their flavors are uniquely delicious and are irresistibly luxurious in texture and taste!
