The beansprout brand was launched last September 2008 with the hope of providing shoppers with chic and eco-friendly alternative to plastic bags. We wanted to create a habit of bringing reusable bags when shopping to decrease the usage of plastic bags. The idea basically came from a trip abroad where supermarket shoppers were all encouraged to bring their own reusable bags when they shop and had to pay for plastic bags if they didn’t bring any. During that time, the concept was fairly new and exciting and so we thought of bringing this idea to the Philippines.
Today, it is beansprout’s mission to influence more Filipinos to be more caring and nurturing to mother earth by raising awareness of the importance of buying products that are eco-friendly. We aim to offer affordable, chic and eco-friendly alternatives for everyday living. beansprout strongly believes that it is time that we do something to help save our environment.
We acknowledge the fact that there are a lot of eco friendly bags sold in the market; but what makes beansprout different aside from being chic and fashionable, is that our bags are sewn by members of a small community in Taytay Sewing our bags has been their source of livelihood and inspiration since we started.
