Ahh Hong Kong. Where shopping and dinning are fun and easy on the budget (if you know the right places). It is the easiest and quickest neighboring country one can go to in time of a “quick getaway” and perfect for that “long weekends” given there’s budget fares & hotel discounts. Ahhh Hong Kong. I miss you!
But for those who crave for HK street food, like I am and have limited (or no budget at all to fly all the way to Hong Kong) for that authentic honky food here’s a good news. I’ve discovered a restaurant that similarly gives you HK’s famous street foods.
Eat Fresh offers a variety of HK famous street food at an affordable price (price ranges from P25- P150) .
We had a hard time choosing what to order. Aside from their rice toppings on claypot, their menu also consisted an assortment of fried balls, sticks and the like, (such as crab, lobster, and fish tofu), wanton noodles and dimsums.
You can actually see how your food is cooked. Just like in a turo-truo (a restaurant or eatery where you order by pointing at what dish you want) but less the hassle of standing and waiting.
So here’s what we ordered:
The fried rice was flavorful, although the rice itself isnt’ that tasty (okay, I’m bad at describing). Also I’m very meticulous with the green peas being undercooked and you can tell that it is based on the picture. But overall, it was good.
The sausage (Chinese sausage) was sweet and the black sausage is made of duck liver which was salty. So the combination of the two was just yummy. You can never go wrong with sweet & salty.
It was good because it was not too salty for fried noodles, we opted not to put any sauce to try it as is and liked it.
Okay, I forgot exactly what it’s called but basically it’s stewed intestines. I like how flavorful the soup is, although I’m not a fan of intestines, this one’s an exception.
Nothing fancy about their version, but meat was tender and it was good.
Seafood in claypot was just yummy! 😀 Even Gabbie (my daughter) loved it!
Not really a fan of radish cake so I wasn’t really able to enjoy this dish, but my husband said it tasted okay.
Their siomai according to my husband (who’s a siomai fanatic) was okay. It didn’t taste synthetic (meaning less or no extenders at all). For me it seemed fresh and yes, my husband was right it was good.
Aaah this dish is perfect for rainy days! The noodle was cooked al dente, the wanton was good and the soup was comforting.
Yes, I love takoyaki and I think Eat Fresh has one of the yummiest takoyaki I’ve tasted so far.
As you all now, I like everything toasted and well done, so upon learning that Eat Fresh’s isaw (intestine) is deep fried even though I’m not a fan of isaw (I like betamax-blood cubes better) I tried it and fell in love with it! Tastes good especially dipped in spicy vinegar! Yum! 😀
If I remember it correctly there’s lobster fingers, fish tofu, crab balls and the like. All of them taste good, so much that you can’t resist eating it with rice! I experimented and dipped them in different sauces; peanut sauce, sweet & chili sauce, and spicy vinegar and every combination taste good! 😀
To wash down everything I ate, I ordered fresh lemonade. Yes, it was fresh indeed and has now become my favorite. Not too sour, not too sweet. Just right!
So overall our experience with Eat Fresh was good. I would definitely come back for my favorites: takoyaki, isaw and fresh lemonade. I can’t wait to try the other dishes next time! Oh, if you plan on eating here expect that parking is limited and that they are closed on Sundays, other than these I wish you happy eating!
