I didn’t enroll Gabbie in any summer activity. As much as I wanted to, I felt like
summer is the time for us to just enjoy our leisure time and not follow any strict schedule. After all, my cutie pie Gabbie is entering big school this June, so I want her to just be a kid and do nothing over summer. But then again my 4 year old lil’ Ms. GJG is an active pre-schooler who loves doing all sorts of activities. Most of the time, any made-up activity aka play will do just to alleviate boredom.
Then Breeze sent this to us. Such a perfect timing as my creative juice was running low thinking of what fun things I can let her try without leaving the house and having to put too much pressure on her and of course on me. Heehee.
What is a Sige Sabado Playbox?
It’s a box containing eight crafty, artistic and fun activities for kids and kids at heart. These activities are bound to make a mess but you need not to worry, as Breeze believes that saying yes to stains is synonymous to saying yes to learning. Each activity is a perfect opportunity to bond with your child, explore your creative side and just have loads of fun!
Not creative enough? Don’t sweat it! Sige Sabado Playbox comes with a step by step guide on how each activities are made. Upon seeing the box, my kids shrieked in delight and immediately opened it. I had to ask them to contain themselves as I wanted to take photos first just incase the box won’t survive after they’ve rummaged through it. After close inspection from my lil’ GJGs, I asked my darling daughter Gabbie to pick one activity that she’d like to do. After a few minutes of struggling, she managed to pick one, hooooraaay!
She choose to raise a monggo plant.
Mr. GJG has a green thumb and has been growing our pocket garden for years now. I think his daughter followed suit as she’s really interested in growing and taking care of her own plants. This is a good way to start as monggo plants are easy to grow and take care of. I like that this activity is simply yet it encourages her to do what she likes and at the same time teaches her responsibility at a very young age.
Three steps to raise a monggo plant.
Step 1: Fill the pot with soil. Make sure not to fill it to the brim as the monggo seeds need enough space to grow.
Gabbie loves this part as she always watches her dad whenever he transfers one plant from a pot to another.
Step 2: Put 4-6 pieces of monggo seeds. Make sure to bury them under the soil so they can start growing.
Shempre meron pang worm for added fertilisation of the soil. Heehee. My little gardener wasn’t scared seeing the chubby worm.
Step 3: Water the plant. Quick tip: Don’t over do it. You just want enough water to moist the soil and not drown the seeds.
After a week of constantly looking after, watering and putting it in the right spot to catch sunlight, lil’ Ms. GJG was so happy and thrilled to see that her monggo plant grew!
Gabbie’s first ever plant that she took care of all by herself. I’m such a proud mommy!
I’m glad that I’m a Sige Mom and messy activities that can cause stains on my kids’ clothes don’t really bother me. We are pretty excited to do the other activities next as we feel confident that doing things together not only strengthens our relationship as mom-daughter but it also helps us learn more about each other. Most of all, we love that we get to have fun!
