The long wait is over. Alexander Wang for H&M is hitting Manila three days from today, November 6, 2014 at 8:00 AM. Here’s a peek at his Wang-y collection. Plus, I give some shopping tips to help you shop AWxHM.
Here’s the look book of Alexander Wang X H&M collection.
The Alexander Wang x H&M menswear collection creates an urban wardrobe with the features and functionality of performance wear. The collection comprises 23 newly developed garments, plus accessories and a line of everyday objects, all infused with novelty and wit.
Sport influences appear throughout the collection, particularly in a seamless, fast-drying T-shirt perforated with a hidden message that is revealed when the garment is worn. An arrow-graphic performance tank top has logos in silver mesh, while performance shorts bear the WANG logo across the front. There is also a color-block, appliquéd leather baseball shirt and knit running tights with logos at the waistband and knee.
Hooded jackets, sweatshirts and knits are urban wardrobe essentials, and the collection features great looks for city streets. There’s a hoodie with webbing zipper pulls in black or gray melange, and a black-and-gray melange sweatshirt with embossed logos. Fine-knit items feature a graphic pattern in black, and another hoodie has knit sleeves with a foam-injected, crocodile-skin pattern. These can be paired with five-pocket, tapered-leg pants with storm-sealed zip detailing, or black scuba-look motorcycle pants.
Scuba diver, gym rat or just a stylish guy? All of the above! These looks very much embody Alexander Wang’s design philosophy. Discreet yet functional.
Conquer winter in a reflective-silver down jacket with a hood and side ventilation zips, or a black hooded parka with WANG-branded, black-on-black webbing zipper pulls. There’s also a water-resistant, bonded-seam black windbreaker with a detachable liner vest and a molded hood curved like a baseball cap. Additional styles include a black leather motorcycle jacket with a padded nylon back section, as well as a black hooded motorcycle jacket in scuba-look fabric with embossed elbow patches.
Alexander Wang x H&M for women captures the speed of the city, mixing sports and performance for everyday life. Technical details and fabrics provide both function and fashion in Wang’s versatile, first-ever performance-wear wardrobe. The women’s collection includes 38 exclusively designed garments, as well as accessories and playful takes on everyday objects. The result is a collection to be worn on the street, at the gym, at the club ‒ in the way women live their lives today.
Wang’s debut performance-wear pieces include fast-drying black running tops and perforated laser-cut shorts, each with bonded Alexander Wang logos in silver mesh. Seamless performance T-shirts, tank tops and cropped tops are knit in a pointelle pattern with a hidden clever message that becomes visible when the garment is worn. Sports bras also feature the Alexander Wang logo at the back or on elastic bands, while compression cropped tops, tights, dresses and bra tops feature logos in various sizes.
Totally loving this dress! Tamang revelation lang. Heehee.
Going somewhere cold? Check out the AWxHM outerwear. Panalo!
Technical outerwear offers protection, in items such as a black, seamless, welded water-repellent parka with a molded hood curved like a baseball cap. A gray jacquard scuba-look coat is a winter essential, while black biker jackets come in an oversized, scuba-look wool style and in a padded, quilted leather version.
If my abs were present, I’d get this swimwear. For now, I’m liking the cape.
Performance details are used to create fashion pieces, such as the dress in scuba-look fabric with interwoven layers and a cut-out waist section with mixed fabrics, or the paneled leggings with a dynamic patchwork in technical, houndstooth jacquard-knit and silver-reflective stretch fabrics. Alexander Wang’s signature experimentation with innovative fabrics is in evidence throughout the collection, especially in a sweatshirt with a foam-injected, black crocodile-skin pattern, and the scuba-look, black or grey-melange sweatshirt embossed with the Alexander Wang logo. Wang’s understanding of the urban uniform is found in black scuba-inspired look biker sweats and black leather track pants with open snap fasteners down the sides.
Boxing attire? Pwede din pang grocery. Kabogera!
Wang’s performance wardrobe for H&M is completed with black gloves in scuba fabric, jacquard beanies, and graphic WANG-branded compression socks. Footwear includes black scuba-look hybrid sneakers, with a reflective logo stamped across the zips, and zip-front, high-top leather sneakers. A padded nylon duffel bag comes with webbing straps emblazoned with logos, while backpacks are available in black leather or mesh, with a foldaway nylon “shower cap” rain cover.

Long, scuba-inspired gloves stamped with a reflective logo, jacquard beanies, and compression socks with graphic logo treatment complete the outerwear look. Shoes include high heels in rubberized leather with a fold over top section scuba-look “sock”, a square-heel leather boot, and a high-top scuba-look sneaker. The collection also offers a leather backpack with a foldaway, Wang-branded rain cover in reflective silver fabric, and a padded drawstring satchel in rubberised leather.
To illustrate the scale of the Alexander Wang lifestyle and inject a sense of wit, the collection also includes a range of objects, including a yoga mat, a water bottle, towels, sunglasses with an oversized head strap, and swim goggles. Boxing gloves are available in life-size and mini keyring versions; there’s also a whistle on a two-finger ring, and for the victor, a magnetized Alexander Wang trophy cup.
