Mother’s Day for the Go household isn’t a big deal. To be honest, Mr. GJG doesn’t think it’s as important as one’s birthday or wedding anniversary. He feels like it was made (alongside Father’s Day and any other specific “Day” celebrations) because people have ran out of occassions to celebrate heehee. For him, everyday should be celebrated whether you’re a mom or a dad. But I beg to disagree for I like celebrating different occasions whether big or small and Mother’s Day is one of them and has become a big deal for me ever since I became a mom.
I think I succumb to the pressure and expectation of gift-giving for our special day as moms. I want to be pampered, treated like a queen or at least feel extra special on this day. I want to be noticed and be acknowledged more than anything else which is usually represented by a gift. Yes, we women really want a lot of things. But the truth is, beyond the material things, we mothers want some things more than those that money can buy.
Nonetheless, I’m sharing some of things I want, just in case the people who love me are reading this *hint hint*
Larsson & Jennings Watch
I’m not much a fan of watches but lately I’ve come to like simple yet classic ones such as this Larsson & Jennings watch which is already available here in Manila! Check out Time Keeper on Facebook as they are the official distributor here.
Michael Kors Saffiano Tote & Wallet
Because I saw this in the store last week and oh its even prettier in person! Plus, you all know how I love the color green. This particular shade of green ha. Hard to find a nice bag and MK has saved me from looking. Saffiano leather that can last more than a few good use so it’s justifiable for its price. I also want the matching wallet and there’s also an iPad case but that’s pushing it.
Yosi Samra
My love for green. A mom can never have too many shoes, flat shoes that is. Again an excuse to buy this lovely pair of YS. They’re foldable making it a handy extra pair in your bag.
Parada Baroque Sunnies
Moms should have at least a perfect pair of sunglasses that compliments her face. As I said, it can save you from putting on eye make up and even protect you from the sun’s harmful rays. I’m eyeing on this pretty. Check out other luxury pairs from Luxury Eyewear. They’ve got the latest styles fit for everyone.
Alex & Ani
It’s because of Tin aka Manila Fashion Observer that I found my love for Alex & Ani. I didn’t know they’re already available here in Manila. One time we were together, we dropped by Itsie Bitsie which houses these bracelets. I immediately fell in love with the four-leaf clover which is a symbol I’ve been associating myself and my blog with. Now I want more.
iPhone 5
Doesn’t everyone want this? The craze and hype about it have mellowed down but my recent visit to my telco provider made me realize that I want one. Plus, seeing other people owning one got me even more convinced on how nice it is. My current iPhone was a gift to me and as much as I don’t want to part ways with it I think I need an LTE connection (which iPhone 5 has) so I can blog, Instagram and post status updates as real-time as possible. Yes, I have an excuse. 😉
Boracay
No beach for us this summer. Bummer. I’ve been wanting and wanting to go to Boracay since last year because it has been 4 years since I last visited. But I was pregnant last year and this year well, we have a new baby. Perhaps next summer when my lil’ Mr. GJG is a year and half old already, easier to tote around two toddlers? Perhaps.
Aaaah my current wish list. Well, they’re only part of it but nonetheless, I shall work my way on getting these as a reward maybe? As of writing I am helpless since my yaya went back to her province because of her mom. Today is the 4th day of my journey taking care of a baby and a toddler. I tell you IT IS NOT EASY! I hardly sit and only get bathroom breaks (even that is a challenge but I’ll talk more about that in a separate post).
These material things for me are just the icing on the cake. If I get them then yay for me but if I don’t then it’s okay. In reality what moms like me (or maybe I’m just speaking for myself?) really want are things money can’t buy. As I ponder (naks ang lalim) every night when the kids are asleep and the house is as still as the night (nagpapaka-poet lang ako no?) and all the chores and errands for the day are finished, I wonder. What do I really want this Mother’s Day? Or everyday of my life?
A clean & orderly house for sure. Every mom’s goal is to have a neat house. One that is, despite all the junk and toys, organized and looks well-put together. Kids can really turn a house upside down and for the OC moms this could be a nightmare.
Finish a nagging task. Remember that one task for My Happiness Project involves finishing a nagging task. Sadly, I still haven’t completed my nagging task- to sort and print hundreds of photos. We moms need all the time in the world and 24/7 isn’t enough. One must really make time to do such nagging task. If only I can clone myself!
Eat sweets & junk food without getting fat. And I think all women will agree. Need I say more? 🙂
A peaceful, stress-free life. As if homemaking, motherhood and having a career is not enough no? I know it is close to impossible to not be stressed at some point in our lives but at the end of the day we just want to be happy. To have a stress-free life or at least stress about the things that really matter and not dwell on the little setbacks and not sweat on the small stuff.
A healthy family. For those who follow me on Instagram, Twitter and Facebook my lil’ Ms. GJG was confined because of viral infection that led to dehydration and UTI. My only wish during that time is for her to get well and prayed that next time, I’d rather get sick than the kids.
A happy family. Next to health comes the happiness. I’m big when it comes to being happy and I think I am generally a happy person. I’m all for good vibes and I know this is something that I want for my family too.
A loving, compassionate children. We parents really have a lot of dreams for our kids no? We have our own aspirations and wishes for our children because we only want what’s best for them pushing us most of the time to decide for them. My only wish regardless of what my kids will choose career wise or life decisions in general is for them to be loving and compassionate. If they have these two traits the rest of the values every parent would want for their kids will follow. Kind-hearted, sincere, respectful, grateful are some of those values that are present when there is love and compassion.
World peace. Yes, lakas maka-beauty queen the answer but this holds true. With all the bad elements in the world today, a mom can only wish for world peace! Peace so that our kids can appreciate the beauty of the world and the people around them. So that there’ll be more loving and compassionate children, making the world a better place. Naks, but seriously.
More than the material things these are some of the things I pray for everyday.
Happy Mother’s Day to my Mom & Mama. Thank you for all the love you’ve given me and Mr. Go as well as to our kids, your grandchildren. Here’s to many more celebrations with you two!
Also, happy, happy Mother’s Day to all the Mothers in the world. Cheers for being a mom, don’t beat yourself too much. You’re doing a good job! Don’t forget to greet your Mom plus give her an extra hug and a kiss today!
